The manager market is heating up and the results of each team’s hunt for a new head coach is sure to have a big impact on transfer activity. Enzo Maresca’s distinctive style of play at Leicester City has made him a top target for Chelsea.

Manchester United are still weighing up whether to part with Erik ten Hag after his FA Cup triumph on Saturday, or opt for another manager to lead their summer revamp. Transfer market gurus Brighton are also on the hunt for a new leading figure, with Roberto De Zerbi recently made available.

The summer window doesn’t officially open in the Premier League until next month, but that hasn’t stopped teams posturing within days of 2023/24 coming to a close. After a quiet January, it promises to be a hectic few weeks.

West Ham agree first Lopetegui signing

West Ham have reached a verbal agreement to sign Fabricio Bruno from Flamengo, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

Bruno will arrive in east London for an initial £10.2million fee and become the first signing for new Hammers boss Julen Lopetegui.

The 28-year-old defender has only ever played in Brazil, and he earned a call-up to the senior national team earlier this year.

Prem duo in battle for Sammie Szmodics

Two Premier League clubs are alongside Galatasaray in the hunt for Sammie Szmodics, Express Sport understands.

Szmodics finished 2023/24 as the Championship’s top scorer with 27 goals.

Blackburn Rovers boss John Eustance wants to keep hold of the 28-year-old but he may find that tough given the level of interest already this summer.

It is understood that Szmodics would consider a move to Turkey, who could offer him Champions League football next season, but he dreams of playing in England’s top flight.

Emerson Royal stumbling block could sting Tottenham

AC Milan are keen to sign Emerson Royal from Tottenham this summer, according to Sky Sports, but his non-EU status could pose a stumbling block as the Rossoneri look to meet squad regulations.

Emerson is thought to be among the players deemed expendable by Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou this summer.

Pedro Porro is the north Londoners’ first choice at right-back, limiting Emerson to only 11 Premier League starts last season.

Newcastle refine goalkeeper shortlist

Newcastle United have turned their attention to Burnley goalkeeper James Trafford after being put off by Aaron Ramsdale’s asking price, according to The Daily Mail.

Trafford remains a hot prospect despite losing his place in Burnley’s starting XI last season.

The Magpies want to find competition for Nick Pope after being forced to rely on Martin Dubravka for much of 2023/24.

Arsenal stopper Ramsdale had been a major target for Newcastle but the Gunners’ £30million asking price is believed to have cooled their interest.

Arsenal star told to leave

Albert Sambi Lokonga claims that his time at Arsenal ‘is slowly coming to the end’.

The Belgian is set to be sold by the Gunners after a positive season-long loan at Luton Town.

Sambi Lokonga, 24, has made 39 appearances for Arsenal since signing from Anderlecht in a £17million deal.

“My time at Arsenal is slowly coming to the end, I think so,” he told VOOsport. “I had a discussion with the club and what was said is that the best solution was for me to leave.”

Chelsea’s audacious hijack

Chelsea have submitted a contract offer to land Fulham defender Tosin Adarabioyo, according to The Daily Mail.

Newcastle United have long been the front-runners to sign the 26-year-old, who is set to become a free agent on June 30.

Adarabioyo has already made it clear to the Cottagers that he intends to run his contract down.

While Chelsea are now firmly in the race, Newcastle reportedly remain confident that their extensive negotiations will lead to an agreement.

Man Utd’s £42m game changer

Manchester United could get hold of Atalanta midfielder Ederson for as little as £42million this summer, according to reports.

The Brazilian’s performance in the Europa League final was that of a player with a significantly higher price tag.

Liverpool have been heavily linked with Ederson, but the palatable asking price could see United spring into action.

The Red Devils reportedly sent scouts to watch the player earlier this season.

His prospective signing could be a game changer in the midfield, with Sofyan Amrabat and Casemiro each facing uncertain futures.
