Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal could need just three signings to spark an era of Premier League dominance following Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City exit.

Arteta’s men have come agonisingly close on two occasions to winning the Premier League title, but have both times fallen short.

That could be about to change though, with rumours that Guardiola is ready to call it quits at City starting to grow.

It’s reported by The Daily Mail that Guardiola is prepared to walk away from the Etihad Stadium next season, despite the club doing all they can to keep him in the Premier League.

Should next season prove to be his last in charge of the Blues, Guardiola’s departure could present Arsenal with an opportunity to establish themselves as the division’s most dominant side.

But their squad isn’t quite ready for that yet…

Express Sport have highlighted three transfer targets Arsenal should be chasing in order to get the upper hand over City next time around.

Despite netting 91 times across their 38 league matches last season, not one player in the Arsenal squad managed more than 20 goals.

Bukayo Saka with 16 goals finished as Arsenal’s Premier League highest scorer – something Arteta is said to be keen to fix.

The Gunners are believed to be in the market for a centre-forward this summer, with Alexander Isak having emerged as the most likely candidate.

After missing out on European qualification for next season, Newcastle United could be forced to sell some of their top talents in order to comply with FFP regulations.

As a result, Arsenal could bag themselves the 20-goal-a-season striker they need to break City’s stranglehold on the league title.

Real Sociedad v Real Madrid CF - LaLiga EA Sports

Declan Rice’s arrival at the start of last summer was billed as one of the signings of the season, with the £105million man transforming Arsenal’s midfield.

However, the north Londoners could still do with extra quality in that department and Martin Zubimendi is the ideal candidate.

The Real Sociedad ace may help alleviate the pressure on Rice by deputising for the Englishman, or Zubimendi could even play alongside the ex-West Ham United skipper.

A double pivot of Rice and Zubimendi, with Martin Odegaard operating just in front, has all the makings of a league-winning midfield.

And finally, one thing Arteta might need to add if he wants to properly challenge City next season is a right winger who can complement talisman Saka.

The English international featured heavily for the Premier League runners-up last season, largely because of quality alternatives on the bench.

Pedro Neto could solve that problem for Arteta, with the Wolves star having established himself as one of the division’s most promising talents.

Picking up 14 goal contributions last time around, even though injuries hampered his campaign as a whole, Neto could prove the final piece in the jigsaw Arsenal need to end their two-decade-long wait for a Premier League title.
