Chelsea have reportedly contacted the family of record-breaking 15-year-old Francesco Camarda about a possible switch to Stamford Bridge in the future, it has been claimed. Striker Camarda became Serie A’s youngest-ever player when he appeared for AC Milan against Fiorentina on Saturday.

An injury crisis prompted head coach Stefano Pioli to call upon the highly-rated teenager. Camarda was a second-half substitute in his side’s 1-0 victory.

Several European clubs have reportedly been monitoring the prolific hotshot as he cannot sign a professional contract with Milan until his 16th birthday, which falls next March. The Italian side are desperate to keep Camarda for the foreseeable future but face strong competition.

Camarda has caught the attention of Europe’s biggest teams by reportedly scoring over 400 goals during his time in Milan’s academy. He could be the subject of a major transfer in the coming years.

According to 90min, Chelsea are one of three Premier League clubs who have enquired to the player’s relatives about a move in the future. Liverpool and Manchester City are reportedly also interested.

However, teams in England are unable to sign players under the age of 18 who do not possess British citizenship. That could leave the door open for Spanish or German rivals who can sign starlets from the age of 16 due to the European Union’s relaxed migration rules.

The report adds that the Milan-born Camarda’s family are settled in the city and have no plans to move on any time soon. The centre-forward is widely expected to sign a professional contract which will come into effect on his 16th birthday.

Milan had to ask for special dispensation from the Italian FA to include Camarda in their senior squad this weekend. “Talent has no age, and he has a lot of it,” Pioli said ahead of the game.

“Destiny sometimes creates opportunities for you, we will need to be good at accompanying him in his growth because we are talking about a very young boy.

“From a character point of view Camarda is very mature, he is ready to give us a hand if needed, in these days he has done very well. I’m sure he’ll have a great future.”

Chelsea have been widely linked with signing a new striker ahead of the January transfer window. With Camarda unable to join yet, the likes of Ivan Toney and Victor Osimhen have been widely linked with the west Londoners.
