World-class creative attacker earmarked to leave club amid Tottenham links

Tottenham Hotspur have been heavily linked with Chelsea’s Hakim Ziyech over the past season.
Spurs were reportedly eyeing the Morocco international last summer.
Speculation linking Tottenham and Ziyech persisted during and after the January transfer window too.
And just a month ago, AS Roma Live claimed Spurs were plotting a summer move for the Blues forward.
Ziyech’s future in West London looked in doubt back in January, when he came close to leaving.
However, a paperwork mishap prevented him from sealing a switch to Paris Saint-Germain.
Now, football.london has claimed that the reported Tottenham target is “definitely” in the “likely to leave” category.
Chelsea would rather sell Ziyech, but they may have a couple of issues in doing so.
‘Any interested parties may be reluctant to pay good money for him given his lack of football this season,’ claimed the report.
‘And his wage demands could prove an issue.
‘The Blues may be forced to compromise and send him out on loan, like what almost happened in January.’
Our view
If there’s one thing Tottenham are lacking in attack at the moment, it’s a creative outlet.
Harry Kane has shouldered the responsibility in the last few years, dropping deep and linking the team together.
While he has done a great job, it shouldn’t be his burden to bear. He should be playing higher up.
That’s why they need a top-quality player who can play as a number 10, and Ziyech could be just that.
The Chelsea ace has excellent vision and he can score goals himself too.
Ziyech also reminded everyone of his quality at the World Cup, helping Morocco reach the semi-finals.
“Ziyech is one of the best players in the world, if he’s at 100 percent,” Franck Leboeuf told ESPN at the time.
“We love everything, his finesse, his finishing, everything, his crosses.
“He didn’t show that yet for Chelsea and we are still looking for it.
“But if the World Cup can launch his secondary career, we would love that at Chelsea.”
The Blues’ likely loss this summer could well be Tottenham’s gain.
