Wimbledon eye loan deal for Crystal Palace keeper

AFC Wimbledon are eyeing a loan deal for Crystal Palace goalkeeper Owen Goodman, the South London Press understands.

The 20-year-old spent last season on loan at Colchester United in League Two and racked up 40 appearances during his first senior spell away from Selhurst Park.

Goodman, who is featured for both Canada and England at international level, signed a long-term deal with Palace in November 2022.

The stopper has featured on the bench on a handful of occasions in the Premier League for the Eagles.

Johnnie Jackson’s side took Kofi Balmer and John-Kymani Gordon on loan from Palace last January.

Wimbledon are in the market for two goalkeepers after Nik Tzanev was released and last season’s number one – Alex Bass – returned to Sunderland after his loan spell concluded.

Our paper also understands that experienced keeper Simon Moore, 34, is thought to be an ambitious target for the Dons after his release from Coventry.

Jordan Smith, 29, is another candidate Wimbledon have looked at following his release from Stockport.
