Hincapie joined Bayer Leverkusen back in the summer of 2021. He made an instant impact and has been a regular at the Bundesliga club since joining them. He has racked up a total of 76 appearances and also five goal contributions.

As far as the ongoing season is concerned, the 21-year-old has featured in a total of 43 matches and has two goal contributions. The Ecuador international has turned out to be a very reliable player for the German club. And despite being just 21, he is a leader on the pitch.

Hincapie is great on the ball as well as off it, he is exceptional in the air and in short, he is a complete package when it comes to defending. On top of that, the 21-year-old centre-back is a versatile player who can feature as a full-back as well as a wing-back.

His performances have attracted a lot of attention, with West Ham one of the club keen on having him in their ranks. The Hammers have had a disappointing season and had to struggle to avoid relegation. Now that they have managed to secure Premier League football for next season, the club have started planning for the summer.

The major reason for their struggles in the ongoing season has been their defence, and they want to reinforce it before heading into next season. The Hammers are keen on reviving themselves as they look to push for a top-half finish next season.

They have their eyes set on the 21-year-old. West Ham boss David Moyes believes Piero Hincapie could be a great addition to their ranks. He has all the qualities to help them resolve their defensive issues. However, it won’t be easy to land given that his contract at the Bundesliga club runs until the summer of 2027, and there are other clubs in the race for his signatures.
