West Ham told to sign striker as Callum Wilson cited – Agbonlahor

Gabby Agbonlahor has urged West Ham to sign a “top striker” this summer.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Aston Villa forward insisted Danny Ings is “not the answer” to the Hammers’s goalscoring problems.

Last week (17 May), sources told this site that the Irons could sell striker Gianluca Scamacca this summer.

The 24-year-old is attracting interest from a host of Italian sides and David Moyes’ side let him go just 12 months after his arrival at the London Stadium.

Moyes has options going forward with the likes of Michail Antonio and Danny Ings but the pair have only netted a combined total of 13 Premier League goals this season.

West Ham are keen to add another striker this summer and may have to raise funds through the sale of an existing forward in order to do so.

Agbonlahor insisted the Hammers need to be certain their adding “the right striker” to their forward line.

Michail Antonio has done excellent in the second half of the season but they need a striker,” he told Football Insider.

Danny Ings is not the answer, he lacks legs. I feel that they need to go and get a top striker in the summer.

Goals keep you in the league, goals get you into Europe if you have got a prolific striker.

Look at Ollie Watkins, Callum Wilson, Ivan Toney. All these players are prolific and their teams are in the top half of the league.

I am sure West Ham will be looking to get the right striker.

In other news, Tottenham and West Ham are racing to complete marquee deal.
