Wataru Endo has no plans to leave Liverpool in January
Wataru Endo wants to stay and fight for his place at Liverpool although he has only played six minutes of Premier League football so far this season.
The defensive midfielder, who captains Japan, proved a major hit under Jurgen Klopp during his debut campaign at Anfield following a surprise £16.2million switch from Stuttgart last August.
But he isn’t as suited to new boss Arne Slot’s style and has only started one of Liverpool’s 10 matches inacrossall competitions so far this season.
Yet the 31-year-old intends to stay and fight for his place on Merseyside. He has no plans to pursue a January exit.
Italian giants Inter Milan have been credited with an interest in the combative midfielder, who is confident his chance to break into Slot’s starting XI will come in due course.
He is one of the main back-up options to first-choice pairing Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis Mac Allister.
Marseille also saw an £11.8m bid rejected for Endo in July before tying up a deal for Tottenham’s Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
Slot recently declared Endo’s all-action, five-minute cameo in the recent 1-0 win at Crystal Palace “says a lot about him as a person”.
