Jules Kounde and Benjamin Sesko feature in Friday’s transfer round-up
Premier League clubs are finalising their plans for the summer transfer window. The likes of Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool could begin announcing their first deals over the coming weeks.
All four of those clubs will be hoping to strengthen their squads in a bid to challenge Manchester City at the top of the Premier League. United will need to drastically improve on an eighth-placed finish, even though Erik ten Hag secured Europa League football with an FA Cup triumph.
Arsenal will want to make up the two-point gap that saw them miss out on the title to City. Meanwhile, signings at Chelsea and Liverpool will help build teams in the image of their new managers.

Ipswich ‘consider’ £20m Omari Hutchinson bid
Ipswich are reportedly preparing a £20m bid for Chelsea winger Omari Hutchinson.
The 20-year-old scored 11 goals for Ipswich during their promotion-winning campaign.
And buoyed by Kieran McKenna’s decision to remain at the club, Ipswich are now planning a big-money move for Hutchinson.
According to Football London, Chelsea could be tempted to sell at that price.
Vincent Kompany wants £35m Arsenal raid
Vincent Kompany reportedly wants to sign Oleksandr Zinchenko at Bayern Munich.
According to the Mirror, the Belgian wants his former Manchester City team-mate to join him in Germany after completing his switch from Burnley.
Zinchenko joined Arsenal from City in 2022 but has been in and out of Mikel Arteta’s team this season.

Liverpool prepare bid to dent Aston Villa’s Champions League preparations
Liverpool can dent Aston Villa’s preparations for the Champions League this summer.
According to the Sun, the Reds are keen on a move for 19-goal striker Ollie Watkins.
A deal would likely cost around £40m, but Arne Slot is reported to like the player.
Liverpool struggled for regular goals last season and prematurely fell away in the Premier League title race.
Arsenal and Liverpool ‘can spend big this summer’ as finances anaylsed
Arsenal and Liverpool are well-placed to enjoy another big-spending summer transfer window, a financial expert has told Express Sport. Both Premier League teams will be hoping for a busy few months of activity in a bid to compete with Manchester City.
Dr Dan Plumley, a sport finance expert at Sheffield Hallam University, says that while top-flight clubs will be wary of profit and sustainability regulations this summer, Arsenal and Liverpool are among the teams in a healthy financial position.
“Every club is kind of a little bit more wary now than before in terms of the regulations. Partly because of what we have seen with Everton and Forest and whatever might be with Manchester City,” Plumley told Express Sport, in conjunction with Expert Casinos.
He added that both teams will also need to consider UEFA’s squad cost ratio regulations, which effectively take a club’s sporting expenditure as a percentage of its revenue. But he is confident that they will not have concerns over spending.
Plumley continued: “The other side of that is there has been some revelatory framework from UEFA, which will impact Liverpool and Arsenal as they regularly compete in UEFA competitions and will need to transition into that as well.
“That said, if you look into the data we can see, Liverpool and Arsenal are two clubs who can always spend if they want to.”

Chelsea backed to hijack Arsenal transfer
Chelsea goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic has given the Blues the green light to sign Benjamin Sesko this summer.
Slovenia forward Sesko has been strongly linked with Arsenal – but current Chelsea man Petrovic has backed the 21-year-old to shine at Stamford Bridge instead.
Serbian shot-stopper Petrovic said: “I know and have been following him. He’s having a good half-season, he’s in great scoring form.
“I read that he’s scored in his last seven matches in a row. He seems to have gained strong momentum for the Euros. He’s a forward who has everything a modern player needs. He’s tall, strong, fast and intelligent.
“I’ve watched some of his matches. Of course, he can play in the Premier League. Absolutely! He has great potential and he’s been successfully proving it in recent months.”
Man Utd eye £42m deal
Manchester United’s pursuit of a versatile defender has seen them identify Jules Kounde as a target for the summer, Football Transfers report.
Kounde could be allowed to leave Barcelona due to the club’s financial issues. It is claimed that while the Frenchman has a release clause above a whopping £800m, the Catalan club might accept a deal worth around £42m.
Chelsea were strongly linked with Kounde before he joined Barcelona in 2022. However, it seems that United could be the main interested party this year. INEOS are reportedly keen to sign a defender who can play at both centre-back and right-back.
Arsenal get green light
Arsenal target Benjamin Sesko favours a move to the Emirates Stadium, the Mirror reports.
The Gunners have been eyeing a move for the forward ahead of the summer following his excellent form at RB Leipzig.
Sesko, who was once considered a teenage prodigy, scored 18 goals across all competitions, including in each of his last seven Bundesliga matches.
Now 21, Arsenal believe he is ready for a move to the Premier League and could make him their big-money signing over the coming weeks.
Mikel Arteta desperately needs a prolific forward after seeing his side struggle in front of goal at times last season.
Chelsea eye four deals
Chelsea are making typically bold plans to kickstart the Enzo Maresca era at Stamford Bridge.
According to Football London, four positions are being considered for upgrades by the club’s hierarchy.
Chelsea will reportedly look to sign a centre-back, midfielder, winger and striker this summer to bolster the squad Maresca has inherited following his appointment from Leicester.
