Chelsea are set to appoint Enzo Maresca as their new manager and Manchester United won’t be far behind them in determining their own managerial future. Erik ten Hag is reportedly hanging by a thread despite masterminding an FA Cup win over Manchester City last weekend.

The situation in both dugouts is likely to have a significant impact on summer transfer proceedings, with sporting directors at Old Trafford and Stamford Bridge keen to recruit talent suitable for whoever starts next season as their club’s head coach.

Aston Villa could also be busy as they gear up for a year in the Champions League, while Ipswich Town, Leicester City and Southampton will all need to conduct smart business after coming up from the Championship.

With all this to delve into and more, see Express Sport‘s live transfer updates below…

Man City face devastating triple exit

Ederson, Kevin De Bruyne and Bernardo Silva could all leave Manchester City before the start of next season.

According to The Athletic, Ederson is weighing up an offer from Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad.

The same report states that De Bruyne’s entourage have reached out to MLS side San Diego FC.

And Bernardo’s contract includes a £50million release clause which may be triggered this summer.

Mason Greenwood hint dropped

Borussia Dortmund has emerged as a possible destination for Manchester United outcast Mason Greenwood, according to ESPN.

The club’s sporting director, Sebastian Kehl, has added fuel to the fire by refusing to rule out a move for the 22-year-old this summer.

“I don’t want to talk about any rumours now at the moment because it makes no sense,” he said. “Let’s play that [Champions League] final on Saturday.

“Of course we do have our plans for the next season and of course we discuss many scenarios, but nothing for today. Let’s focus, let’s anticipate that match on Saturday and then we’ll see how we move on.”

BVB are believed to be keen on a loan move for Greenwood. Juventus and Atletico Madrid have also shown an interest.

Enzo Maresca’s three Chelsea targets

Incoming Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca is intent on signing a goalkeeper, a left-back and a forward when he lands at Stamford Bridge, according to The Telegraph.

Stoppers Djordje Petrovic and Robert Sanchez shared the No 1 spot last season and they both now face being replaced by a better ball-playing option.

At left-back, Marc Cucurella has failed to convince and injury issues continue to plague Ben Chilwell.

And the Blues have long been linked with a marquee signing through the middle after relying on Nicolas Jackson to lead the line for most of 2023/24.

Ederson ‘weighing up’ Saudi offer

Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson is considering a big-money offer from Al-Ittihad, according to The Athletic.

The Saudi Pro League side boast the likes of Karim Benzema, Fabinho and N’Golo Kante in their current ranks.

Ederson was due to sign a new contract at the Etihad Stadium earlier this spring, but his commitment to City is now on hold until he comes to a final decision on whether to stay in Europe or head for the Middle East.

Tottenham exit rejected

Richarlison has rubbished rumours that he could leave Tottenham this summer.

Spurs have re-signed Timo Werner on another season-long loan and are still scouring the market for new attacking talent.

Meanwhile, Saudi Pro League clubs have held a long-standing interest in Richarlison. But the Brazilian has set the record straight on his Instagram story.

He wrote: “I left my vacation aside and came to work in Sao Paulo so I could come back better next season.

“About what has been happening in the media these last few days, it’s all fake news. I won’t leave England next season.”

Chelsea clause triggered

Chelsea have triggered a clause in Omari Hutchinson’s contract which will keep him tied to the club until at least 2026, according to the Evening Standard.

The 20-year-old scored 10 goals in the Championship on loan at Ipswich Town last season as they earned promotion to the top flight.

Ipswich are keen to bring him back to Portman Road for 2024/25, while clubs in Germany and the Netherlands are also interested.

New Blues manager Enzo Maresca will reportedly be involved in the final decision in terms of whether Hutchinson is sent out on another loan, sold permanently or integrated into the Chelsea squad.

Man Utd spy £40m saving

Manchester United feel they can capitalise on Everton’s financial turmoil by signing Jarrad Branthwaite for just £40million this summer, according to The Sun.

The Toffees have slapped an £80m price tag on their star defender but they may be forced to accept less, with their takeover bid by 777 Partners at risk of falling apart.

United have already bid farewell to Raphael Varane, and fellow centre-back Jonny Evans could follow him out of the Old Trafford exit door if he is not offered a new contract.
