The 2024/25 season kicks off tomorrow when FA Cup winners Manchester United clash with Premier League champions Manchester City in the Community Shield at Wembley Stadium. Next Friday, the new Premier League campaign commences when Fulham visit Old Trafford to face United, and clubs will be keen to complete business before then.

The deadline is August 30, though, and plenty of activity is expected to be on the horizon in the coming weeks.

Liverpool are among the elite top-flight sides set to complete business as Arne Slot searches for a new defensive midfielder to support his possession-based style of play.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are looking for a midfielder of their own and Tottenham Hotspur are on the hunt for a striker.

Across London, it feels like Chelsea is attempting to recruit an entirely new squad on top of their almost 50-player current roster.

West Ham swoop for Jean-Clair Todibo

West Ham United are reportedly set to seal the loan signing of OGC Nice defender Jean-Clair Todibo, with the option to buy.

According to The Athletic, Todibo will undergo a medical today after agreeing personal terms over a switch.

Juventus were also interested in the 24-year-old, but West Ham appear to have won the race.

Todibo will replace Kurt Zouma, who is on the brink of joining UAE side Shabab Al-Ahli.

Tottenham close in on Dominic Solanke

AFC Bournemouth have reportedly agreed to sell Dominic Solanke for a club-record transfer fee as Tottenham Hotspur close in on his signature.

According to The Athletic, Spurs have agreed personal terms with the 26-year-old striker after Ange Postecoglou identified him as a priority.

And Bournemouth are said to be ready to cash in for a fee higher than the £41m they received from Manchester City for Nathan Ake in 2020.

Solanke has a £65m release clause but it appears like Spurs can negotiate a lesser fee.

Martin Zubimendi wants Liverpool

Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi is reportedly keen to join Liverpool, with the Anfield giants pushing for his signature.

According to Sky Germany, Liverpool have a strong relationship with his agency Idub Global, who also manage Xabi Alonso.

Fabrizio Romano adds that Zubimendi believes a move to Merseyside would be a special step in his career after rejecting approaches from other clubs.

It remains to be seen whether Liverpool will pay the 26-year-old’s £51m release clause in full or if they will open negotiations for a lesser fee.

Man Utd prepare Sander Berge bid

Manchester United are reportedly preparing an opening bid for Burnley midfielder Sander Berge.

According to TEAMtalk, Berge has green-lit a transfer to Old Trafford after being identified as an alternative to PSG’s Manuel Ugarte.

Burnley are said to value the 26-year-old at £30m, but United are hoping to convince the Championship club to sell for around £25m.
