The official opening of the summer transfer window is almost upon us but teams from the Premier League and beyond have already been hard at work for several weeks in an effort to avoid being left behind.

Euro 2024 is also only days away from kicking off, and the tournament will provide a platform for numerous breakout stars to seal dream moves and for other solidified talents to become even more established.

Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham are all expected to be busy in the transfer market this summer as the Red Devils look to build under Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the Reds seek to bring in recruits for new manager Arne Slot, the Blues hope to improve on last season’s sixth-place finish and Spurs set about building a side which fits with Ange Postecoglou’s style of play.

With all this to delve into and more, follow Express Sport‘s live transfer updates below…

Man Utd quoted £60m for Joao Palhinha

Manchester United and Barcelona have joined Bayern Munich in the race to sign Joao Palhinha, according to Sky Sports.

Bayern have taken the most concrete action to date, submitting a £30million offer for the Fulham midfielder.

But The Cottagers want at least double that figure to let him go.

Barca are unlikely to meet those financial demands, and while United could, they are expected to wait until their managerial future is resolved before committing to such a significant signing.

Man City outcast set to replace Arsenal man

Manchester City full-back Sergio Gomez is being lined up by Real Sociedad to replace Kieran Tierney, who spent last season on loan in Spain from Arsenal.

Sociedad chiefs Jokin Aperribay and Roberto Olabe arrived in England on Sunday to conduct various pieces of business, with securing Gomez’s services believed to be high on the list, according to AS.

The 23-year-old didn’t start a single Premier League game under Pep Guardiola last season, notching only 49 minutes of action as City won a fourth straight title.

Wolves on verge of statement signing

Rodrigo Gomes is booked on a flight to England ahead of his Wolves medical, with the West Midlands outfit set to beat Atletico Madrid to the 20-year-old’s signature.

BBC Sport claim that Wolves have agreed a £12.7million move for the versatile youngster, who can play at full-back or further forward.

Gomes scored seven goals and assisted seven more in the league for Portuguese side Estoril last season.

And his arrival would bring an extra sprinkle of quality to Gary O’Neil’s squad, which is already packed full of Portuguese talent.

Tottenham suffer from price hike

The release clause of Tottenham target Chris Fuhrich has risen by millions as a result of him being called up to represent Germany at Euro 2024, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Spurs and Bayern Munich are believed to be chasing the Stuttgart winger.

The 26-year-old’s £19.5million release clause would have made him an affordable option for both clubs.

But they now face forking out an extra £2.5m (£22m in total) as a result of the winger’s Germany inclusion.

Newcastle make Trafford breakthrough

Newcastle United have agreed personal terms with goalkeeper James Trafford, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

The Magpies are expected to submit new offer to Burnley soon with a guaranteed fee of £15million and further add-ons included.

Manchester City, who used to have Trafford on their books, will be due 20 per cent of the transfer fee.

The 21-year-old lost his place in Burnley’s starting XI last season but he is still tipped to enjoy a bright future, as Newcastle look to bring in competition for Nick Pope.

Man Utd, Arsenal stung by ‘transfer agreement’

AC Milan have reached an agreement with Joshua Zirkzee on a five-year contract, according to Calciomercato.

The news will come as a blow to Manchester United and Arsenal, who are both reported to be closely following the Bologna forward.

Milan have been pushing hard to complete the signing over the past few days and have now made a significant breakthrough with personal terms.

It remains to be seen whether the Gunners or the Red Devils chime in to try and turn the dial in their favour, with Zirkzee’s £34million release clause yet to be triggered.
