The 2024/25 Premier League season is upon us, with Manchester United set to kickstart the campaign at Old Trafford against Fulham. The Red Devils have shaken up their squad significantly this summer, though further reinforcements are anticipated before the window closes.

United are keen to acquire the services of at least one midfielder, with negotiations ongoing with Paris Saint-Germain over a deal for Manuel Ugarte. Arsenal and Liverpool are also shopping in the same market as their rivals, with Mikel Arteta and Arne Slot both looking to bolster their ranks in central areas.

Chelsea, in contrast, are prioritising an overhaul in the final third. The Blues are desperate to sign Napoli forward Victor Osimhen despite his immense price tag, with Enzo Maresca’s side hoping that Romelu Lukaku holds the keys to unlocking an agreement.

Tottenham closing in on deal for Championship star

Tottenham are reportedly closing in on a deal to sign Burnley forward Wilson Odobert.

According to Sacha Tavolieri, the French winger has already passed his medical with Spurs and a deal is ‘imminent’.

Ange Postecoglou has made it no secret that he is keen to bolster his forward ranks in what remains of the transfer window, and Odobert’s ability to play on either wing and through the middle is likely to be an attractive asset.

Arne Slot addresses Liverpool’s failed Zubimendi pursuit

Liverpool manager Arne Slot has spoken about how his side were unsucessful in their pursuit of Martin Zubimendi earlier this week.

Liverpool were open to activating the £51million release clause to sign the Spain international before it became clear that he intended on remaining with his boyhood side.

Speaking ahead of his side’s opening game of the season against Ipswich Town, Slot explained: “I said many times already our squad is really strong so it is not easy to find players to strengthen. Zubimendi was one but he chose not to come here so we go forward with the ones we have.

“We’re in a good place and Richard is trying to improve th squad in the background. Zubimendi didn’t want to come and Richard tried everything.”

Chelsea ‘preparing offer’ for Jadon Sancho

Chelsea are reportedly set to make a shock move for Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho.

The winger has been heavily linked with an exit from Old Trafford this summer, with Paris Saint-Germain previously cited as the frontrunners to secure his signature.

However, reports in Germany claim that Chelsea are now in pole position to sign Sancho. The Blues are willing to offer their rivals a transfer fee plus academy players in the hope of striking an agreement.

Chelsa are also open to discussing a loan deal for Sancho with an obligation to make the move permanent next summer.

Newcastle submit fourth bid for Marc Guehi

Newcastle have reportedly tabled a fourth offer for Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi.

Guehi is valued at £65million by the Eagles, a fee which the Magpies appear to be in touching distance of.

According to the Daily Mail, Newcastle have submitted a fourth bid for the 24-year-old which is ‘closer’ to the £65m mark, an increase on their previous bid which was worth £55m plus add-ons.

Palace have made it clear in negotiations that they do not want to lose Guehi and therefore have been quick to reject approaches from their Premier League rivals. However, Newcastle’s new bid has not been rejected at this stage and is said to be under ‘consideration’. Thus, there is a growing feeling that an agreement is ‘close’.

Chelsea make bold Romelu Lukaku decision

Chelsea are reportedly willing to lower their asking price for Romelu Lukaku.

According to Italian journalist Gianluca di Marzio, the Blues previously demanded £36million for the Belgium international – who they signed for £98m in 2021.

Napoli, who are managed by ex-Blues boss Antonio Conte, are desperate to acquire the services of the striker but have only offered £26m.

Chelsea remain interested in signing Napoli’s Victor Osimhen and therefore retain hope that a swap deal can be agreed.

Liverpool receive £38m boost in transfer pursuit

Liverpool have reportedly received a major boost in their pursuit of Sporting star Goncalo Inacio.

The Reds have been scouring the market for a left-sided defender this summer, and a move for ex-Manchester United target Inacio now appears to be firmly on the cards.

According to O Jogo, the Reds are set to table an official offer to Sporting for the Portugal international but they are unwilling to activate his £51million release clause.

Instead, they hope to strike an agreement for a lesser fee. Sporting are said to be open to negotiating a deal in the region of £38m, which will be music to the ears of the higher powers at Anfield.

Sancho heading to the Parc des Princes is expected to prompt talks for Ugarte to accelerate, with United expected to propose both deals happening in tangent.
