Liverpool have thrown down the gauntlet to their Premier League rivals after extending their lead at the top of the table to eight points following their victory over West Ham on Sunday evening. Arne Slot resisted the temptation to spend big in the summer transfer window and appears to have been vindicated for his decision.
The Reds had considered Arsenal and Manchester City as their main title rivals ahead of the campaign but have built a comprehensive lead over both sides under Slot.
The Gunners and the Citizens will be desperate to bring in fresh talent in January, with City all but out of the title race already.
Chelsea have stepped up and have put themselves in the battle for silverware after winning 10 of their opening 18 league matches. The Blues could add to their squad at the start of 2025 to ensure they don’t fall away.
Manchester United, meanwhile, have huge issues to solve but will need to spend wisely in January after getting it wrong in the past. And Tottenham are in need of reinforcements as well.

Man Utd eye Amorim reunion
Manchester United are reportedly eyeing a reunion between Ruben Amorim and Nuno Mendes. The duo spent almost 18 months together at Sporting after Amorim took charge of the club, with the left-back then securing a move to Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2021.
Writing in his GIVEMESPORT newsletter, Fabrizio Romano has insisted that United plan to sign a left-back in 2025 and appreciate 22-year-old Mendes.
But he has also claimed that the Red Devils like the look of other left-backs as well.
