The transfer window is in full swing but Manchester United and Chelsea have both suffered their first major setback of the summer, with top target Michael Olise opting against moving to one of the Premier League giants. The Crystal Palace star has a release clause in the region of £60million but has decided on joining Bayern Munich and Vincent Kompany instead.

The news will have left both clubs reeling, with United also struggling to reach an agreement with Everton for Jarrad Branthwaite. The Red Devils are no closer to paying the £70m fee that the Toffees are demanding, forcing the club to look at alternatives such as Marc Guehi, Goncalo Inacio and Max Kilman.

While Chelsea had already been rejected by Brazilian wonderkid Pedro Lima, who opted to join Wolves as opposed to sister club Strasbourg, though have fellow starlets Kendry Paez and Estevao Willian to ease the pain of losing out on Olise.

Arsenal are looking for another striker to compete with Kai Havertz, Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah, but won’t be signing Euro 2024 Slovenia star Benjamin Sesko, even though they will get a close look when he takes on England next. Sesko has opted to remain at RB Leipzig to continue his development.

Liverpool are seeking their first signing under new boss Arne Slot, and have been monitoring Bayern’s Jamal Musiala, but face significant competition and reluctance from the Bundesliga giants to part ways with an early contender for Euro 2024’s player of the tournament.

Tottenham have similarly been quiet so far in the window, but are looking for defensive reinforcements and have the likes of Leeds’ Archie Gray and Bologna’s Riccardo Calafiori on their shortlist.

Everton confirm first Sean Dyche arrival

Everton have confirmed their first signing of the summer, as Aston Villa midfielder Tim Iroegbunam has penned a three-year contract after a reported £9million fee was paid.

“I’m very pleased. Everton is an amazing club, a big club and I’m just really happy to join and I can’t wait to get started. It was a move that I didn’t want to pass by. I wanted to take the opportunity.

“When I spoke to Kevin [Thelwell – sporting director], he told me more about the club – its history, the future and where they see me playing. It made me feel very excited because there are big things coming, especially with the new stadium.

“When I’ve been to Goodison as an opposition player, I’ve seen how the Everton fans are. You can tell straight away what the atmosphere is like – they are always backing the team. I’m going to work hard for them.

“I just can’t wait to get started. I’m going to give everything and I can’t wait to show what I can bring to this club.”

Liverpool eye free Thiago replacement

Thiago’s departure has opened up a gap in Liverpool’s midfield, albeit the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich star rarely featured last season.

And SportItalia claim that Juventus’ Adrien Rabiot is being monitored by the Reds at Euro 2024 as a potential replacement this summer.

Rabiot’s contract expires at the end of the month and although an offer from Juventus is on the table, the Frenchman is yet to sign on the dotted line.

Should the 29-year-old turn down a stay in Turin, Liverpool could step up their interest after another impressive display in France’s 0-0 draw with Holland last night.

Chelsea in advanced talks for Aston Villa starlet

Chelsea and Aston Villa are set to do business again after agreeing a deal in the region of £35million to send Ian Maatsen to Villa Park.

The Telegraph claim that Chelsea are in very advanced talks to sign teenage sensation Omari Kellyman, who has been compared to Kai Havertz, for £18m.

He is seen as a big prospect for the future by Unai Emery’s outfit, but amid continued talks over Conor Gallagher and Jhon Duran, Kellyman could be set for a move to Stamford Bridge.

Newcastle close in on Dominic Calvert-Lewin signing

Newcastle are reportedly close to sealing a deal for Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin, a long-term Magpies target.

The Telegraph claim that there is confidence on St James’ Park that a fee can be agreed with Everton, with the 27-year-old also keen on a move to the north-east.

With just a year left on his contract at Goodison Park, Everton have been forced to consider selling Calvert-Lewin, which also appeases the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules.

The move could pave the way for Callum Wilson to depart Newcastle, however, with Alexander Isak also attracting interest from Champions League clubs.

Eddie Howe has, however, publicly stated his desire to keep both Isak and Wilson this summer.

Arsenal plot £40m Manchester United hijack

Arsenal are reportedly keeping a close eye on Bournemouth and Hungary left-back Milos Kerkez, who has been strongly linked with a move to Manchester United this summer.

HITC claim that the Gunners, alongside Chelsea and Manchester City, have been scouting Kerkez after some impressive displays on the south coast.

He was also appreciated at former club AZ, though Bournemouth have slapped a £40million price tag on their star defender.

Liverpool eye Real Madrid double swoop

Liverpool are said to be interested in two exciting Real Madrid forwards this summer, as Los Blancos attempt to accommodate Kylian Mbappe.

Estadio Deportivo claim that the Reds want both Rodrygo and Arda Guler, with Turkey’s Euro 2024 starlet seen as the priority for Arne Slot.

Real Madrid are only willing to sanction a loan currently for Guler, however, with Real Sociedad also in the race for the 19-year-old.

Rodrygo’s future is said to be up int he air following Mbappe’s arrival, and could leave if he is not guaranteed an important role moving forward. Liverpool could be the perfect landing spot if his conditions are not met.

Juventus line up Mason Greenwood swap deal

Juventus are reportedly prepared to offer Federico Chiesa in exchange for Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood this summer.

Reports out of Italy claim that the Turin side are unwilling to match United’s £42million valuation and are attempting to lower it with their Italian Euro 2024 star.

Chiesa, who has a year left on his current contract, is not thought to be in favour with new boss Thiago Motta and could be deemed an alternative to Michael Olise for the Red Devils.

Chelsea to finalise Michael Olise alternative

Chelsea are set to meet with Palmeiras once again to finalise documents that will send Estevao Willian to Stamford Bridge when he turns 18.

Fabrizio Romano claims that a meeting is set for this weekend to complete a deal that could be worth as much as £54million.

He, alongside Kendry Paez, are two exciting right-wingers that may help ease the pain of losing out on Michael Olise to Bayern Munich.

Manchester United make contact for Leny Yoro

Manchester United have made initial contact with Lille to sign wonderkid centre-back Leny Yoro this summer.

That’s according to Sky Sports, who say that while Jarrad Branthwaite remains the primary target, options such as Yoro are being sounded out.

Lille’s president has already admitted that the 18-year-old is likely to leave this summer, with Real Madrid and Liverpool also interested in the £70million-rated defender.

Michael Olise decides next club

First up is the big news from last night, as Crystal Palace star Michael Olise opted to snub both Manchester United and Chelsea in favour of a move to Bayern Munich.

Olise had a release clause of approximately £60million that several Premier League sides were willing to activate this summer.

But the winger has decided against joining one of Palace’s rivals and instead will link up with Vincent Kompany in Germany next season.
