Victor Osimhen and Florian Wirtz feature in Saturday’s transfer news
There is scarcely a Premier League team not in need of some TLC during the summer transfer window. Arsenal will be doing all they can to finally topple Manchester City. The top-flight champions will in turn be ensuring they stay ahead of the competition and win an unprecedented fifth title in a row.
Further down, Liverpool will be building a team in the image of Arne Slot. Chelsea, will no doubt continue their huge spending, while Manchester United are in desperate need of upgrades across the pitch.
Will Aston Villa strengthen their squad in pursuit of competing on European and domestic fronts? Newcastle will want to add depth after an injury-hit campaign.

Tottenham transfer target speaks out on future
Tottenham target Albert Gundmundsson has revealed that he will only leave Genoa for an ‘incredible opportunity’.
The 26-year-old scored 14 goals in Serie A last season.
He told Gazzetta dello Sport: “If I was to leave Genoa, it would only be for an incredible opportunity.
“As a child, I used to dream of the Premier League, but I’ve changed my mind now. There is a great life here. So soon Genoa and I will sit down at a table and find the best solution for me and for them.”
ANALYSIS: A big day for Man Utd boss Erik ten Hag
Today could be judgement day for Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag.
The Red Devils face rivals Manchester City in the FA Cup final at 3pm.
Wide-ranging reports suggest that even if United win, Ten Hag could be dismissed as INEOS plan to put their own man in charge of first-team affairs.
The Dutchman oversaw a below-par campaign and despite a couple of positive results to end of 2023-24 season, United finished eighth.
Qualification for Europe hinges on beating City. If United win, they will enter the Europa League. If they lose, there will be no European football played at Old Trafford next season for the first time in 10 years.
INEOS are reported to have already sounded out a couple of replacements in an ominious snapshot for Ten Hag. Mauricio Pochettino, Thomas Tuchel and Kieran McKenna have all been linked with the job.
A repeat of last year’s FA Cup final, Ten Hag goes into it ideally needing a win to have any hope of keeping his job.

Chelsea to make £60m move ‘regardless of who the manager is’
Chelsea will attempt to sign Michael Olise regardless of who their manager is, the Mirror reports.
Olise enjoyed a productive season with Crystal Palace despite only playing 19 Premier League games due to an ongoing hamstring injury.
The winger struck 10 goals and provided six assists in the top-flight as Palace finished 10th under Oliver Glasner.
Express Sport understands that Olise has a complicated release clause, although the exact detail is unknown.
Chelsea attempted to trigger the 22-year-old’s release clause last summer but the player ultimately signed a new deal with Palace.
Tottenham ‘considering’ Callum Hudson-Odoi after snubbing £3m move last summer
Tottenham are reportedly considering a move for former Chelsea forward Callum Hudson-Odoi.
Spurs are seeking to strengthen their wide options and are yet to decide on making Timo Werner’s loan spell permanent.
Hudson-Odoi was offered to the North Londoners last summer before making a £3m move to Nottingham Forest. Spurs instead signed £47m Forest winger Brennan Johnson.
Hudson-Odoi has kickstarted his career with the Midlands outfit, scoring eight Premier League goals last season.
The Guardian say that Spurs are considering signing the 23-year-old when the transfer window opens.
Arsenal hijack Chelsea as manager uncertainty clouds Stamford Bridge
Arsenal may hope to take advantage of Chelsea’s uncertain managerial situation by beating their London rivals to the signing of Victor Osimhen.
According to Italian broadcaster Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli, there is interest in the Napoli striker from both Premier League sides.
However, it is the Gunners that Osimhen is reportedly holding out on a move to.
One of the most prolific goalscorers in Europe with 76 goals in 132 appearances, the 24-year-old will be high on the shortlist of any Premier League club seeking a brand-new No 9.
Liverpool’s £128m target
Liverpool reportedly sent scouts to watch Florian Wirtz for a final time this season in the Europa League final.
HITC say that the Reds and Man City watched the German playmaker, although they might have left disappointed after Wirtz struggled in Bayer Leverkusen’s 3-0 loss to Atalanta.
Nevertheless, Wirtz has been one of the stars of the Bundesliga season, helping Leverkusen go unbeaten in all competitions until that reverse on Wednesday night.
Liverpool have watched the 21-year-old extensively this season, and he is reportedly valued at £128m. Could the Anfield outfit make him their most expensive signing?

Two Man Utd exits confirmed
Tom Huddlestone and Charlie McNeill will leave Manchester United this summer.
Former Premier League midfielder Huddlestone has acted as player-coach in the U21s for the past two campaigns.
McNeill, a 20-year-old striker, has had loan spells with Newport County and Stevenage over the last two campaigns.
Both players have posted statements confirming their departures on social media.
It remains to be seen which high-profile figures leave Old Trafford over the coming weeks and months.
