Top clubs will “take offers seriously” for €80m striker – but Chelsea should beware

SportWitness today have some very interesting quotes from football agent Massimo Brambati, who was speaking to TuttoMercatoWeb radio on the subject of Dusan Vlahovic.
The striker has been linked with a move to Chelsea, and Brambati mentioned us as one of three teams monitoring the Juventus star ahead of this summer.
“There are three teams that showed up [to a meeting about Vlahovic’s future]. In my opinion, Juve will take these offers seriously. All of them have an important profile, because they’re Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid.
“I don’t know if the capital gain will be made, but after a year and a half of Vlahovic they’ve already amortised a year’s gross salary and a good part of the amount invested too.”
But Chelsea should be very, very wary about making this move. Vlahovic looked a top striker when he was at Fiorentina, with all the physicality he would need to dominate the Premier League – but we’ve been fooled by that before.
We equally loved the idea of signing Romelu Lukaku from Serie A too, and he was tearing that division up. Vlahovic has a far less impressive return of 14 goals and 4 assists in 41 games, despite playing for the (theoretically) dominant team in the league.
There’s a reason that Juve want to sell him, and while it might be the chance to pick up a talented player who just made the wrong move at the wrong time, we might also be bailing out the Old Lady’s big mistake of 18 months ago.
