Thomas Tuchel looks set to stay at Bayern Munich.
Thomas Tuchel looks increasingly likely to remain Bayern Munich boss next season amid concerns over whether he’ll be offered the Manchester United job, according to reports. The German’s alleged concerns bode well for Gareth Southgate and Graham Potter if INEOS decide to sack Erik ten Hag this summer.
In February, Bayern announced that Tuchel would be leaving the club at the end of the season after surrendering their Bundesliga reign to Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen invincibles.
Late heartbreak against Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-finals seemingly put the final nail in the former Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain coach’s coffin.
However, Bayern are reportedly strongly considering a U-turn after failed approaches for multiple successors, including Alonso, Julian Nagelsmann and Ralf Rangnick.
According to ESPN, the Bavarians and Tuchel have held talks about extending his contract beyond its summer expiry.
Tuchel is said to be keen on the United job if it becomes available when INEOS make a call on Ten Hag after the FA Cup final on May 25.
However, it’s claimed the 50-year-old fears he might not be a leading candidate if a change is made due to his credentials to fit into a new-look structure at Old Trafford.

Graham Potter would fit Man Utd’s new structure.
Ratcliffe has wasted no time in shaking up the United hierarchy, as well as adding INEOS figures to the club’s football and business boards.
Jason Wilcox is already at work as the club’s new technical director as Omar Berrada waits to start his role as chief executive when his Manchester City gardening leave ends on July 13.
Dan Ashworth will also arrive as sporting director from Newcastle United either at the end of his gardening leave or when a suitable compensation package is agreed.
The report states that Ashworth’s desire for a head coach to work below the football structure rather than a hands-on manager has sparked doubts that Tuchel is the right man for the job.
United’s incoming sporting director has worked well with England manager Southgate during his time at the Football Association.
He also enjoyed a similar relationship with Potter at Brighton and Hove Albion, making them two candidates who would fit that mould.
Tuchel reportedly remains open to discussions with United once INEOS decide on Ten Hag’s future, believing he has unfinished business in the Premier League.
But a Bayern stay looks to be on the cards, potentially narrowing the Red Devils’ shortlist and increasing the chances of Ten Hag receiving the third year of his contract.
