‘The best’: Michael Owen now admits he has total confidence in two ‘classy’ Newcastle players

While Newcastle United fans do not see eye to eye with Michael Owen, the former Toon striker knows a thing or two about scoring goals.
During his Liverpool days, Owen was one of the Premier League’s most feared strikers, and he now believes that Newcastle have got two of the league’s best right now.
The former England forward watched on as both Callum Wilson and Alexander Isak scored during Newcastle’s 8-0 win over Sheffield United. They got a goal each, with Isak showing real composure to score Newcastle’s record-breaking eighth goal.
Eddie Howe will be delighted to see both of his strikers scoring goals, with Wilson on four and Isak on three so far this season. They are dovetailing brilliantly once again, and pushing each other to extraordinary heights.
It is a real luxury to have two top class strikers at the club at this moment in time, and Owen has made a big claim about Newcastle’s goalscorers.

Michael Owen absolutely loves Callum Wilson and Alexander Isak
Owen spoke to the Premier League’s official website after the 8-0 win over Sheffield United. He heaped praise on Wilson and Isak, and even compared them to Manchester City star Erling Haaland.
“You could argue that Newcastle have two of the best finishers in the league,” he said.
“Whenever I see them close in on goal I’m thinking ‘that’s a goal’.
“Of course, there’s Haaland. He’d be right up there as well. But there’s not many that jump out off the page to me when I think all-round classy finishers than the two Newcastle lads.”

Newcastle are lucky to have two elite strikers
While Owen is very complimentary, surely Haaland is a step above. He has got eight goals already this season, which is more than Wilson and Isak combined.
But the Toon duo have started the new season well, and look just as good as last season in front of goal. As Owen says, you just know they are going score when they race through on goal. That is how clinical they are.
Isak’s goal on Sunday was a perfect example of that. As soon as he chopped the defender, you knew he was hitting the back of the net.
As for Wilson, he has got three goals in his last three Premier League games and is playing with real confidence. In fact, only Haaland and Harry Kane have scored more Premier League goals than him since the start of last season.
Newcastle are a different beast nowadays, and that is largely boosted by the fact they have two consistent goalscorers battling it out for a place in the starting XI.
