Ten Hag fave could still make £45m Manchester United move despite agent’s claim

Andre Onana is ‘very happy’ at Inter Milan but a reunion with Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag at the Ol Trafford still cannot be ruled out.
Heading into the summer break, both Manchester United and Inter Milan find themselves in a rather uncertain position.
The Red Devils cannot press ahead with any of their transfer targets until the less-than-divine ponytail and his bonehead brother finally come to a decision about whether or not to accept Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s or Sheikh Jassim’s offer.
As for Inter Milan, well an impressive run to the Champions League final will not solve their Financial Fair Play fears. The Nerazzuri will still be under pressure to cash in on at least one star player between now and September 1st.
And that is why Onana – while enjoying life at San Siro – could still end the window as a Manchester United player.

Could Andre Onana be Erik ten Hag’s next goalkeeper?
“We have a five-year contract with Inter. He has another four years on his contract. Now, he is focusing only on Serie A and the Champions League final,” agent Albert Botines tells Calciomercato TV.
“He still has a long contract. He’s very happy. He’s playing for the strongest team in Italy.”
Onana celebrated Eredivisie success alongside Ten Hag at Ajax before joining Inter for free in 2022. Simone Inzaghi’s Nerazzuri may jump at the chance to make a £45 million profit, however, with Sky Italia reporter Gianluca di Marzio reporting that one-time Barcelona youngster Onana is a target for both Chelsea and Manchester United.
Diogo Costa may be the first name on the lips of many United supporters. But Onana has the advantage of having worked with Ten Hag before. As well as being some £20 million more affordable than Porto’s goalkeeper/playmaker.
“I’m convinced that he’ll succeed,” Ten Hag said of Onana as recently as April 2022. “We’ve all seen that he is a masterful goalkeeper.”
Onana, in addition to his outstanding reflexes, boasts serious confidence in possession. He is, therefore, far more suited to Ten Hag’s preferred style of play than the increasingly anachronic David de Gea.
