Ruben Neves set to join Al-Hilal in record £47m deal – Football Today

Wolverhampton Wanderers star Ruben Neves is reportedly close to joining Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal.

According to BBC Sport, Wolves have agreed a club record £47 million deal with the Saudi Pro League outfit for the 26-year-old.

He has previously been linked with Manchester United, Liverpool and Barcelona but now looks set to head to the Middle East.

Neves has been one of Wolves’ most influential players since joining the club in 2017.

Wolves were playing in the Championship when he first arrived, but he helped them secure Premier League promotion in his first season.

The Midlands have successfully maintained their top-flight status since then, with Neves playing a big part in them staying afloat.

He has made 253 appearances across all competitions for Wolves, bagging 30 goals and 13 assists.

The Portugal international was one of the best players for Wolves last season, weighing in with seven goal contributions in 33 league games.

However, with his contract expiring in June 2024, Wolves have decided to cash in on Neves.

The move to Al-Hilal is surprising, with Neves entering the prime years of his career.

Several top European clubs have been eager to secure his services, but he looks set to move to a country considered one of football’s backwaters.
