Solid Silver
8.30 Kempton
The draw could have been kinder to Pons Aelius as he’s in stall nine, whereas Solid Silver is in box one and might be up to making all on her second run in a handicap from that berth in first-time blinkers.
Sir Mark Prescott notched six straight winners last week and Solid Silver, a stamina-laden mare who was third in a Listed bumper at Doncaster last December before she was withdrawn from Aintree’s big one in April, is interesting upped to marathon distances on the Flat for the first time.
It’s true she finished last of seven on her handicap debut at Hamilton in May when sent off the joint-favourite, but that’s her third straight poor effort on soft ground and returning to a synthetic surface should help.
She is better judged on her third to the 95-rated Scenic off level weights in a novice here before that and a 48-day break should have freshened her up.
The six-year-old arrives with an unexposed profile after just seven starts across both codes and surely has more to offer. I expect she’ll be tough to peg back under Luke Morris against a field of largely moderate types.
