Report: Nottingham Forest considering Matt Turner acquisition – SBI Soccer

Nottingham Forest is reportedly considering adding two goalkeepers this summer and American shot-stopper Matt Turner is one of them.

Turner has been linked, along with Manchester United’s Dean Henderson, for a potential move to the City Ground, The Athletic reported Sunday. Turner’s parent club Arsenal is planning a move for Brentford’s David Raya, which would open the door for the 29-year-old to head out on loan, or transfer elsewhere, according to the report.

Turner joined Arsenal last summer from the New England Revolution, registering four clean sheets in seven combined appearances for the Gunners. A total of five of Turner’s seven appearances came in the UEFA Europa League while two came in the FA Cup.

Aaron Ramsdale was the Gunners No. 1 goalkeeper for the entire campaign.

A former undrafted free agent signing by the Revs, Turner earned eight caps with the USMNT this year, winning the Concacaf Nations League in June. He also made four starts during the Gold Cup before the Americans suffered elimination in the semifinals.

Nottingham Forest finished 16th in the Premier League last season, four points clear of the relegation zone.

Current USMNT goalkeeper Ethan Horvath is under contract with Nottingham Forest, but spent last season on loan with Luton Town.
