Report: Manchester United waiting for West Ham to make a bid for 55-capped international

Manchester United are waiting for West Ham United to lodge a bid for Harry Maguire.

According to a report from ESPN, Manchester United are ‘anticipating’ a move from West Ham for 30-year-old centre-back Harry Maguire when the summer transfer window opens.

The Manchester United defender has been heavily linked with a move to join the Hammers over the past year or so – most recently just last month.

David Moyes desperately needs to bring a top-class central defender to the London Stadium this summer, having recently sold Craig Dawson and with Angelo Ogbonna now 35.

Kurt Zouma‘s persistent injury problems are a real concern as well. In my opinion, Maguire would be the perfect man to come in and shore up our defence.

The Red Devils are seemingly just waiting for the Hammers to make a move for the 55-capped England international…

ESPN reckon that the experienced centre-back faces a really uncertain future under Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford.

Man United are expecting a move from David Moyes to try and bring him to the London Stadium when the summer transfer window opens.

Ten Hag is reportedly open to the idea of Maguire leaving this summer. So if the Hammers move in for his signature, there’s a good chance we could sign him.

The fact that we sit deep would suit him down to the ground, and we would probably see more of the old Leicester Maguire, if he moved to the London Stadium.

Maguire’s teammate Luke Shaw described him as ‘unbelievable’ recently (The Mirror). I agree with the Man United left-back – the 30-year-old is one of the very best around, and he would suit the Hammers perfectly.

Manchester United value Harry Maguire at around £40 million according to The Daily Mail – a fee that West Ham surely won’t be paying for a 30-year-old.

Perhaps £25-30 million would be a reasonable price to pay for the Hammers. However, whether Man United would entertain seeing him for that amount remains to be seen.
