Report: Chelsea scouts really like £55m relegated player, they’re giving amazing reports
Chelsea scouts are big admirers of Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia, according to reports.
Romeo Lavia, whose Southampton side have been relegated from the Premier League this season, is attracting a lot of transfer interest ahead of this summer transfer window.
GOAL claims that Chelsea are “firm admirers” of Lavia.
It is understood that Blues scouts have given “overwhelmingly positive” reports on the 19-year-old talent after attending matches to watch him.
The report adds that Liverpool and Manchester City have the Belgian teenager on their radar, too.
Journalist Ben Jacobs said back in March that Chelsea target Lavia may cost around £55million this summer.
We guess the youngster won’t want to be playing Championship football with Southampton next season, so it’ll be interesting to see if he can secure a high-profile transfer away from St Mary’s.
He’s been one of the shining lights this season in a Saints team that have been relegated from the top division in 20th.
Lavia is an all-action defensive midfielder who plays with a lot of maturity for someone aged just 19.
He definitely fits the profile of a No 6 that Chelsea need to sign this summer. Is he ready to walk straight into the Blues XI and improve it, though?
If Chelsea can bring in a genuine defensive midfielder this summer, we suspect Enzo Fernandez can push forward and thrive in a No 8 position for the Blues.
The best teams across the Premier League mainly have a supreme defensive midfield anchoring the back four, which is why Chelsea need to repeat that trick at Stamford Bridge. We’ve seen first-hand with the likes of Nemanja Matic and Claude Makelele how important it can be.
