Nottingham Forest return to action today with the first of their pre-season friendlies against Chesterfield.
Nuno Espirito Santo‘s men will be travelling to the Technique Stadium on Saturday where they will be taking on the League Two outfit.
Most of the Forest players have only just made their return to training following their summer breaks and it could even offer fans their first look at some of the new signings made.
A heavily rotated side would not be uncommon given it is pre-season and the opening game of their summer efforts.
However, Forest fans could see a mix of youth and the club’s top talents as they look to kickstart their preparations ahead of the new campaign.
One player who will not be up for selection today is the Belgium international Matz Sels who is now enjoying his summer break following the Euros.
Nuno offers summer signings their first start
It has been a proactive start to the summer transfer window at the City Ground with Forest already seeing four new faces come through the doors.
Elliot Anderson was the big-money move coming in from Newcastle United late last month costing Forest around £35m.
And more recently there has been the signing of the gigantic goalkeeper Carlos Miguel from Corinthians.
The Brazilian shot stopper has already began training with his new side after the move was confirmed earlier in the week.
Forest also added winger Eric da Silva Moreira to the squad this summer from the German side St. Pauli.
All of these players will be available for selection today against the League Two outfit.
Opportunities for Forest youngsters
Forest’s 19-year-old centre-forward Detlef Esapa Osong has been spotted in training this week ahead of the game later today.
The striker is coming into the summer on the back of netting six goals and providing two assists for Forest’s U21s last season.
Another youth option who could be introduced from the start against Chesterfield is the left-back Josh Powell.
Like Esapa Osong, the 19-year-old is also believed to have been seen training with Nuno’s first team earlier this week.
Murillo to provide fans some reassurance
A lot has been said about Forest’s Brazilian centre-back this summer with speculation surrounding his future
Murillo has been heavily linked with a potential move away this summer just 12 months after joining the club.
However, the 22-year-old is now back in training with Forest and has even been spotted donning his new number five.
Starting him on Saturday may provide the fans with some reassurance over his future ahead of the coming weeks.
Nottingham Forest predicted XI vs Chesterfield: Carlos Miguel; Neco Williams, Murillo, Andrew Omobamidele, Josh Powell; Ryan Yates, Elliot Anderson; Eric da Silva Moreira, Morgan Gibbs-White, Callum Hudson-Odoi; Detlef Esapa Osong
