Paul Pogba has already publicly ruled out the possibility of returning to Manchester as recently as October amid links with a shock transfer to Manchester City. And Express Sport understands the Premier League champions have no interest in Pogba and have never had an interest in the former Manchester United midfielder despite the rumours.

On Saturday, a report claimed that City had sounded out the 31-year-old over a stunning swoop once he is free to return to football in March.

Pogba is a free agent after leaving Juventus last month and is currently on the hunt for a new club to make his return with in three months’ time.

But it’s believed that there is no chance of Pep Guardiola bolstering his misfiring squad with the French World Cup winner next year.

And Pogba has already shot down any hope of the controversial move taking place due to issues his family faced while living in Manchester.

Pogba spent six years back in the English city after returning to United from Juventus for a then-world record £89million transfer fee in 2016.

His relationship with supporters dwindled throughout his underwhelming second stint at Old Trafford, though, leading to an inevitable exit in 2022.

At the time, Pogba was linked with an incredible switch across town to the Etihad Stadium. But two months ago, while admitting it wasn’t out of the realm of possibility, he revealed why it didn’t happen.

“Honestly, I had a lot of problems. I had the burglary, I had [a] problem with the extortion. I had to leave Manchester,” the ex-United No. 6 told Mail Sport.

“Let’s say it like this: if I didn’t have that [problems], maybe I would have been at City.

“But with an ‘if’, you can save the world because my head wasn’t about staying in Manchester. But it wasn’t a closed door because I left United for free.”

Pogba’s Manchester home was hit by thieves in March 2022, an incident that heavily influenced his decision to rejoin Juventus a few months later.

The dynamic midfielder and his wife Zulay were away from the house at a game, but their young children were asleep upstairs during the terrifying ordeal.

Pogba will make his highly anticipated return to football in March after a four-year ban for a doping offence was reduced to 18 months earlier this year.

On Friday, he teased his comeback on Instagram with a cryptic story showing a black screen with timer, zipped lips and tongue-out face emojis.

Inter Miami are the current favourites to seal his signature and add him to Javier Mascherano’s all-star squad in the MLS.

Marseille, Corinthians and San Diego FC have also been backed among the frontrunners by the bookies.
