Palace & West Ham make contact to sign £10m man compared to Harry Kane
Crystal Palace and West Ham have now made contact to sign Alassane Plea from Borussia Monchengladbach.
That is according to Foot Mercato in France.
However – if Crystal Palace or West Ham are to sign Alassane Plea – he will take a lot of convincing.
What’s the story?
Well, it is said that Crystal Palace and West Ham have already made initial enquiries about a deal for the France international.
However, Foot Mercato believe Plea would prefer a return to the country of his birth, with Lyon also interested and immediately frontrunners because of that fact.
The 30-year-old is not happy at Borussia Monchengladbach under Daniel Farke, who insists on playing him out wide when many would argue that the Frenchman’s best position is in the centre of the attack.
Foot Mercato add that Plea is valued in the region of €12m (£10m) by the Bundesliga side.
The Borussia Monchengladbach No.14 has scored two goals while also providing 13 assists in all competitions this season.
Crystal Palace or West Ham could sign a Harry Kane like striker in Alassane Plea
For those of you who don’t know much about Plea – who Newcastle wanted in 2022 – a comparison might help.
Interestingly, the Lille-born striker has been likened to Harry Kane.
It was the Bundesliga’s official website who made the comparison – and a very bold one at that.
They mention that Plea and Kane are similar due to their “strength and robustness on the ball” – as well as their ability to either run in behind, or play with their back to goal thanks to their quality in holding the ball up.
If Plea can have even a third of the impact Kane frequently has in the Premier League, he would be a tremendous signing for just £10m.
Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as anything could happen this summer.
