Mykhaylo Mudryk faces a fight for his Chelsea career
Chelsea’s Mykhaylo Mudryk is reportedly ‘desperate’ to leave the club in search of more regular playing time, with a potential move on the cards in the January transfer window. The Ukrainian international, who made the switch from Shakhtar Donetsk for a hefty £88.5million plus add-ons, has only been given one Premier League start under manager Enzo Maresca this season.
Despite being benched against Manchester City, he was given a chance to shine from the start against Wolves, but was substituted at half-time after failing to make an impact. Mudryk saw 16 minutes of action off the bench in the home draw against Crystal Palace, but was left out of the squad for the Bournemouth match.
Even though he featured in both Europa Conference League play-off matches against Servette, it’s been a challenging period for Mudryk, reflecting his overall experience at Stamford Bridge. Since his move from Shakhtar, he has managed to net just seven goals and provide five assists in 62 appearances.
Now, TEAMtalk reports that the 23-year-old is ‘desperate’ for a move to secure more game time, suggesting a January exit could be on the horizon. It’s understood that Chelsea are ‘open’ to letting Mudryk go, with a departure described as ‘very possible’.
Premier League and European clubs are showing interest in Mudryk. Bayern Munich, who attempted to sign him on loan in January, still have their eyes on him, but their interest has waned since Vincent Kompany took over from Thomas Tuchel earlier this summer.

Marseille is also in the running for Mudryk. Manager Roberto De Zerbi is reportedly a ‘big fan’ of the winger and believes he can bring out his best.
A loan move in January seems most likely as clubs typically avoid large expenditures mid-season.
Regardless, it’s unlikely that Chelsea will recover the £88.5million they paid for Mudryk. A successful loan spell could be the best chance to increase his market value.
Mudryk isn’t the only player Chelsea is willing to let go in January. Axel Disasi, Benoit Badiashile and Ben Chilwell have been put up for sale for the right price.
Disasi, who started in the 1-0 victory against Bournemouth, may find himself back in contention for a regular first-team spot, while Badiashile hasn’t seen any Premier League action this season. Ipswich and Crystal Palace are reportedly considering moves for Chilwell in January.
