Mohamed Salah will command attention from Saudi Pro League clubs once again this summer.
Mohamed Salah tops the Saudi Pro League’s summer wishlist, along with two Manchester City stars, as the Middle Eastern nation plot another Premier League raid. Salah was subject to interest from Saudi last summer, only for the Liverpool ace to remain in the Premier League, but ahead of the summer window, talk about an Anfield departure is once again hotting up.
Liverpool were said to have turned down a world record offer for Salah last year, with Al-Ittihad tabling an offer in the region of £200million. A remarkable sum of money, but one which Liverpool weren’t tempted by, as they laughed off any interest in their highest-earning player and have since reaped the rewards.
Salah is enjoying a stellar campaign at Anfield, with the Egyptian international having already notched up 29 goal contributions from his 28 appearances across all competitions for the Reds. But with less than 18 months remaining on his bumper contract at Liverpool, there are suggestions that Saudi clubs could come knocking for Salah’s signature once again.
Kevin De Bruyne is another player the Saudi Pro League are after.
According to ESPN, Salah heads a list of Premier League players Saudi are chasing ahead of the 2024/25 campaign. It’s claimed Saudi clubs aren’t expected to match their £757million spend from the previous summer’s window, but their approach is still going to be aggressive, with Salah considered the main priority.
Elsewhere, reigning Premier League champions City could also see two top stars targetted, with Kevin De Bruyne and Bernardo Silva among the players being courted by the Saudi Pro League. De Bruyne was approached by Saudi Arabian clubs last year but turned down the offer, with interest in the Belgian expected to be high once again this time around.
Whereas Silva, who has perenially been linked with a move away from the Etihad Stadium is also expected to command Saudi attention. The Portuguese star penned a new contract with the Manchester-based outfit in September – a deal which is believed to hold a £50 million release clause.
As for other Premier League stars who could be targeted in the off-season, Liverpool teammates Virgil Van Dijk and Alisson Becker are also said to be on the list of potential options for Saudi, alongside Manchester United midfielder Casemiro. The five-time Champions League winner joined United from Real Madrid as part of a £70million deal in the summer of 2022, but could be allowed to leave Old Trafford if a suitable offer arrives.
