Bukayo Saka speaking with Mikel Arteta.
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has confirmed that Bukayo Saka, Declan Rice and Leandro Trossard have all recovered from their injuries. However, he revealed that Ben White is set to be out for “months” following a knee operation.
Ahead of the clash with Nottingham Forest, Arteta said: “Trossard seems to be ok, he trained this morning and seems to be feeling good. Bukayo and Declan have their first session today. Very good as well. Ben [White] is going to be out for months, unfortunately.
On White he confirmed: “It’s been different kinds of struggles. It’s never been the same thing. It’s not been improving. It got to a point where we have to protect the player.”
The manager also mentioned that defender Riccardo Calafiori is expected to return to the squad next week, while Kieran Tierney and Takehiro Tomiyasu continue to be sidelined.
On Tomiyasu, he added: He’s gonna be away now for a few weeks to continue with his treatment and change his environment a bit. He’s a guy that will work 24 hours to be fit and he feels terrible being out. Hopefully it can unlock him.”
Ben White is facing a spell on the sidelines.
Saka and Rice had previously limped off in Arsenal’s 1-1 draw at Chelsea before the international break and subsequently withdrew from the England squad, while Trossard was injured during Belgium’s match against Israel.
Arteta also revealed that he had discussions with the Kroenke family over the international break about the club’s future following the departure of sporting director Edu.
“It’s always really positive to spend time together,” he expressed. “We had time to talk about the windows and we’re taking the club after Edu. It’s a joy to spend time with them. They have so much experience in the sport. You feel the ambition and how close they live every day with us.”
