Mason Greenwood is set to leave Man Utd this summer
Mason Greenwood’s hopes of remaining in Spain next season have reportedly been ‘left in tatters’. The forward is expected to leave Manchester United on a permanent basis this summer, with Juventus now said to be leading the race to secure his signature.
Greenwood enjoyed a successful loan spell at Getafe last season, scoring 10 goals and registering six assists in 36 appearances to catch the eye of top clubs around Europe.
With just one year left on his contract at Old Trafford and questions raised about how he would be received upon his return to England, Greenwood is expected to make a permanent move away from his boyhood side over the coming months.
Getafe have made it no secret that they are keen to retain the services of the versatile forward, with Atletico Madrid are also reportedly monitoring the English player’s situation.
Barcelona have also been linked with Greenwood for some time and are viewed as the player’s preferred option, but Sun Sport report that the forward is unlikely to head to the Camp Nou for the 2024/25 campaign.
They say that the departure of manager Xavi has left his hopes of joining the Catalan giants ‘in tatters’, and a move to Italy is now firmly on the cards instead.

Juventus are viewed as the ‘likely move’ at this stage, with the Serie A side registering an interest in striking a deal for his services late last year, having sent scouts to watch Greenwood in action for Getafe on numerous occasions.
Juve believe that the forward will make a seamless transition into life in the Italian top flight and feel that he will be able to guide them back to glory domestically.

If granted a move to Juventus, Greenwood will be hoping to prove his worth with Thiago Motta’s side and stake his claim as to why he should be re-integrated back into Gareth Southgate’s England plans.
The Three Lions boss has ‘no plans’ to invite the forward back into the fold and has previously refused to fuel speculation about what the future holds for Greenwood on the international front, but the player still remains hopeful that he will return to representing his nation on the biggest of stages.
