Marquinhos signs new PSG contract

Marquinhos’s existing deal was due to expire at the end of the current campaign, with Chelsea reportedly keen to see him reunited with former PSG star Thiago Silva at Stamford Bridge, but the Brazilian has now quelled such speculation.
Marquinhos celebrated his 400th appearance in all competitions for PSG as the capital club beat OGC Nice 2-0 last month, and now only Jean-Marc Pilorget (435 games) and teammate Marco Verratti (413) have more than his 405.
Marquinhos has won 26 major honours – including seven Ligue 1 Uber Eats titles – since joining from Roma as a 19-year-old in 2013, and he is looking forward to many more.
“I’m delighted to sign a contract extension, but also very proud,” he told PSG’s official website. “This is a very special moment for me. Paris Saint-Germain has always shown confidence in me, and I also have a lot of confidence in this club. I’m convinced that we’ll continue to achieve great things together in the years to come.”
Paris tied Verratti down to a new four-year contract in December, while Kylian Mbappé penned a new three-year deal last May. Lionel Messi and Sergio Ramos remain out of contract at the end of the current campaign.
