Uruguay international Manuel Ugarte is poised to join Man Utd for £50m
Manuel Ugarte has dropped a cryptic clue about his big-money switch to Manchester United after posting a message on social media.
The Red Devils have reportedly agreed a £50million deal to sign the Uruguay international from PSG after weeks of negotiations with the Ligue 1 champions.
And Ugarte has done little to fan the flames on his impending move to Old Trafford after taking to social media on Tuesday morning to give his view on the potential deal.
The 23-year-old took to his official X account and dropped a teasing ‘eyes’ emoji, which gained over 500,000 views in the space of 10 minutes of posting.
Most notably, United’s former winger and Ugarte’s international team-mate Facundo Pellistri – who left in a permanent deal Panathinaikos this summer – commented on the post with ‘applause’ and ‘heart’ emojis.
Even with no words to speak of, it would suggest it is only a matter of time before Ugarte’s move is announced, with the midfielder set to become Erik ten Hag’s fifth summer signing.

When asked about if he was interested in signing Ugarte after their 2-1 defeat to Brighton on Saturday, Ten Hag remained coy and replied: “I don’t have any update on anything regarding transfers. We always look for better.
“When we have news we will report it and in this moment I have not heard anything, so I don’t think there is anything to tell.”
United have already splashed out £154m to bring Matthijs de Ligt, Noussair Mazraoui, Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee to the club this summer. Ugarte’s deal is likely to take their spending past the £200m mark as the Dutch head coach attempts to close the gap on the top four.
Man Utd head coach Erik ten Hag is set to bring in his fifth new signing
Ten Hag has been desperate to sign a new No. 6 to help Casemiro manage the defensive workload after opting against signing Sofyan Amrabat on a permanent deal following his loan spell last season. And it appears Ugarte is finally on his way to Manchester after striking a deal.
The central midfielder joined PSG in 2023 for £55m after snubbing a move to Chelsea. However, his time in Paris has been disappointing to say the least and he registered only two assists from his 25 appearances in Ligue 1 last season.
His potential arrival is likely to pave the way for Scott McTominay to leave the club, as the Scotland international is locked in talks with Napoli. The two parties have agreed on a £25m fee for the 27-year-old, which will go towards funding Ugarte’s move.
