Bagpipe player serenades fans ahead of Man Utd friendly
Manchester United are set to complete the £47million signing of Andre Onana from Inter Milan, but one of his soon-to-be team-mates Donny van de Beek has already piled the pressure on the goalkeeper. The Cameroon international has been viewed as David De Gea’s replacement after impressing in the Champions League and has been handed the chance to work with Erik ten Hag again.
Van de Beek and Onana were team-mates together at Ajax for four years while working under Ten Hag, as United’s forgotten man will know all about the 27-year-old’s capabilities.
The goalkeeper is currently at United’s training ground Carrington in order to undergo a medical and put the final touches on his transfer, following a breakthrough in negotiations between the Red Devils and Inter.
However, Van de Beek is expecting big things from the stopper. Speaking after scoring in United’s friendly win over Lyon, he said: “He’s [Onana] a great goalkeeper — he’s good with the feet, he’s good on the line. My expectations of him are high.”

Andre Onana is set to become United’s second signing of the summer.
Van de Beek scored the only goal of the game early into the second half against Lyon in Edinburgh, but admitted that he does not know what the future holds for himself after missing the majority of last season through injury after already expecting big things of Onana.
“Yeah [I could stay at United],” Van de Beek added. “But it’s also a possibility that I move, so everything is open. It’s hard to say now where my future is — I’m focussing on getting as fit as possible and pushing on.

“For now, it’s hard to say where my future is. I’ve come back now after injury and I’m fit now, so I play my first minutes after training for a few weeks, so I try to push as hard as possible.
“Everyday [something] can happen, so it’s hard to say now where my future will be. In football you never know, especially with me, so let’s see what happens.”
United icon Gary Neville has already claimed that being the Red Devils’ goalkeeper is the “most difficult position in English football” due to the scrutiny that role brings, while the pressure is also being ramped up from those inside the United dressing room – Ten Hag will surely be hopeful that Onana can deal with the spotlight being put on his newest signing.
