Mason Greenwood has impressed since joining Getafe on loan
Juventus have reportedly emerged as the frontrunners to secure the signature of Mason Greenwood this summer. Manchester United are expected to part ways with their academy graduate at the end of the season, and the interest from Massimiliano Allegri’s side could present them with an exciting swap deal opportunity.
Greenwood spent almost two years on the sidelines and away from professional football after he was charged with attempted rape, controlling and coercive behaviour and assault in January 2022. Those charges were dropped in February 2023, with Greenwood denying any wrongdoing throughout.
Getafe acted quickly to secure the services of the forward on loan after United eventually ruled that he would not remain part of Erik ten Hag’s side, and the 22-year-old has managed to get his career back on track with the La Liga outfit.
Greenwood has scored eight goals and assisted another six in 28 league appearances for Getafe, and his performances have not gone unnoticed around Europe. Barcelona, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid are among those to have been linked with securing the services of the versatile forward.

United are interested in Juve star Gleison Bremer
According to iNews, Juventus are now leading the race to sign Greenwood though and have been monitoring his situation closely since heading to Spain. A ‘number of clubs’ are also interested in the striker but Juve could hold the upper hand in negotiations if they are willing to part ways with Gleison Bremer.
United are said to be very interested in signing the Brazil international this summer and could ‘explore the avenue’ of striking a swap deal with the Old Lady which would see Greenwood head to the Serie A and the centre-back travel to Manchester.

United have slapped a £40million price tag on their former starlet and are in no rush to part ways with him, with another loan move not being ruled out. With Greenwood’s contract expiring in 2025, opening talks with the player over a fresh deal at the Theatre of Dreams is also an option on the table to ensure they don’t lose him for free.
But the chance to acquire the services of one of their top targets in a department which desperately needs investment from Sir Jim Ratcliffe could be too good of an opportunity to pass up on, though it remains to be seen whether Juve are willing to sacrifice Bremer to secure the signature of Greenwood.
