Forest are not looking to sell Neco Williams this summer
Manchester United reportedly hold an interest in former Liverpool star Neco Williams.
The Red Devils are keen to reshape their backline this summer, with Raphael Varane’s departure and the potential sales of Victor Lindelof and Aaron Wan-Bissaka set to pave the way for new signings to arrive.
Erik ten Hag has struggled for options at full-back since his arrival at Old Trafford and United are therefore looking to ensure they have enough depth on both sides to push for the top four once against next season.
Several options are being explored as a result, with Bayer Leverkusen star Jeremie Frimpong and Bayern Munich fringe player Noussair Mazraoui among those who have been strongly linked with making the move to the Premier League.
According to HITC, the Red Devils are also monitoring the situation of Nottingham Forest defender Williams. United are ‘keeping tabs’ on the Welshman, along with a host of clubs around Europe.
West Ham are said to have already seen a bid rejected for the 23-year-old this summer, with AC Milan, Bayer Leverkusen, Tottenham and Newcastle shortlisting the versatile full-back as a potential option for the remaining weeks of the transfer window.

Jurgen Klopp was willing to let the defender leave Liverpool
Forest are not looking to sell Williams this summer and would demand a significant fee to part ways with their No. 7, who is capable with both feet and has been deployed at both left and right-back previously.
The City Ground outfit forked out £17million to acquire the services of Williams in 2022 after it became clear that he did not have a long-term future at Liverpool. The defender made a handful of appearances under Jurgen Klopp after breaking into the fringes of the side, but the lack of first-team guarantees saw his head turned.

United may be left hoping that West Ham look to firm up their interest in Wan-Bissaka over the coming weeks to provide them with the funds – and also rule them out of the running – to pursue Williams more vigorously.
The Red Devils are currently prioritising signing a midfielder though, with negotiations ongoing with Paris Saint-Germain over a deal for Manuel Ugarte. The Uruguay international is keen to join Ten Hag’s side this summer, though if an agreement is not reached then the Red Devils are likely to look to re-sign Sofyan Amrabat following his loan spell at the club.
