Man Utd could cash in on Marcus Rashford.
Manchester United could cash in on Marcus Rashford as early as the January transfer window after agreeing that he isn’t unsellable, according to reports. The Red Devils are reportedly ready to offload the homegrown hero, which would hand Ruben Amorim’s rebuild budget an almighty boost.
The Portuguese tactician has used Rashford in all five of his opening games as United boss but has named him in his starting lineup just twice.
Rashford has scored three times, including a brace in the 4-0 win against Everton, averaging a goal every 84 minutes under the new regime.
However, Rasmus Hojlund appears to be Amorim’s first-choice striker, while Alejandro Garnacho has retained his regular starting berth alongside undroppable captain Bruno Fernandes.
Amorim will be keen to start moulding the squad in his vision as early as January but faces financial restrictions imposed by the Premier League and UEFA’s rules.
United are on thin ice due to mounting debt placed on the club by the Glazer family and recruiting £600million worth of players for Erik ten Hag in just over two years.
And there is a lingering expectation that they will have to once again sell to buy at the start of Amorim’s reign, similar to the summer.
Rashford reportedly isn’t immune from Ineos’ ruthless streak and could find himself in the shop window this winter.
Marcus Rashford has started just twice under Ruben Amorim.
According to Sky Germany, United are prepared to sell Rashford next summer but could sanction his exit in January if a suitable offer arrives.
It’s claimed the Old Trafford giants have acknowledged his improvement during a short period working with Amorim but have agreed he isn’t untouchable.
As a homegrown player, any transfer fee received for Rashford would represent pure profit on the books and subsequently significantly ease the club’s current financial concerns.
The 27-year-old is also United’s joint-second highest earner on £300,000-a-week, so a departure would leave plenty of room to manoeuvre on the wage bill.

Rashford has made 425 appearances for United, scoring 138 goals since Louis van Gaal handed him his debut in February 2016.
He has earned 60 senior England caps in that time, netting on 17 occasions, but currently finds himself out of the picture.
Rashford has scored just 15 goals since the start of last season, following a career-best 30-goal 2022/23 campaign under Ten Hag.
His patchy form has caused tensions with the fanbase, and an opportunity for a new challenge elsewhere could work out best for all parties.
