Man City star denies ‘unrealistic’ transfer rumour amid PSG, Barca interest – ‘Not going to happen’
Man City playmaker Bernardo Silva has shut down any talk of a return to Benfica while saying he will not “run away from questions” about his future.
Silva has been linked with a move to Barcelona for over a year and is expected to leave the Cityzens this summer.
Barca are unlikely to be able to afford the Portuguese international, which has opened the door for a move to French champions Paris Saint-Germain.
PSG sporting director Luis Campos brought Silva to AS Monaco in 2014 and has reportedly made the 28-year-old his number-one target for the summer transfer window.
Silva played 55 times across all competitions in 2022/23 as Man City won the Treble.
It is no surprise to see a high level of interest in the ex-Benfica youngster given his incredible work rate, technical ability and tactical flexibility.
And it seems like Silva is ready to take on a new challenge with a switch to PSG looking increasingly likely.

While on international duty with Portugal, the City star was quizzed about his future, insisting he is not afraid to answer any questions while saying now is not the right time to answer these questions. Hmm…
Silva said he doesn’t know where his future lies, but definitely left the exit door open.
“I don’t run away from questions,” Silva told Portuguese journalists (quotes via Sport Witness). “The truth is that this is not the space to talk about it, but I still don’t know my future.
“I’m being honest. I don’t know, we’ll see in the near future. And even if I did, it wouldn’t be the space to talk about it. The reality is that I don’t know.”
Silva also insisted talk of a City exit does not impact his performances on the pitch as he is “used to” transfer talk.
“I can only speak for myself,” he added. “It doesn’t affect me, because I’ve been in this situation for almost three years now.
“I’m already quite used to it, so I’m focused and it’s an immense pride to represent our country. It’s an enormous happiness.
“We have two important games to take an important step towards qualifying for the Euro. To, once again, give joy to the Portuguese. I am focused on the national team.”
Asked if he could return to Benfica this summer, Silva was having none of it. He said: “It’s unrealistic and it’s not going to happen.”
