Manchester City were dispatched by Juventus in the Champions League on Wednesday
Manchester City are clinging to their place in this season’s Champions League after they were beaten 2-0 by Juventus in Turin. Pep Guardiola’s side dominated large spells of the second half but were found wanting in front of goal.
Dusan Vlahovic headed in the opening goal of the evening after Kenan Yildiz put the ball on a plate for him with a wonderful cross, before Weston McKennie thumped in a second with 15 minutes remaining.
Guardiola was let down by a host of players, with Kevin De Bruyne the only City star who came away with any credibility after another lacklustre display from the eight-time Premier League champions. And Express Sport is on hand with all the City player ratings.
Ederson: 6
Initially appeared to have done well to keep out Vlahovic’s header from close range, but the ball had crossed the line. Doesn’t appear to be the reason for City’s downturn in fortunes and will be hoping to keep his place in the team.
Kyle Walker: 4
Didn’t get out to Yildiz to block the cross in the lead up to the first goal and looked vulnerable at times. Got himself in a good attacking position just before the hour mark but his delivery was terrible.
Ruben Dias: 4
Was far from solid at the heart of the backline and was guilty of leaving players free in the box. Was drawn towards the ball for Juventus’ second goal of the night as McKennie hammered the ball home after finding himself in bags of space.
Josko Gvardiol: 4
Kicked a clearance straight to Yildiz before the goal and was then beaten to the cross by Vlahovic as Juventus nudged ahead. Didn’t look comfortable when Juve came forward.

Rico Lewis: 5
Was almost dispossessed close to his own goal after failing to clear his lines in the opening 10 minutes. Was beaten too often, with the ball looping over his head in the attack that led to the second goal.
Bernardo Silva: 6
Wasn’t clinical in front of goal when teed up by Jack Grealish. Tidy on the ball but lacked an end product.
Ilkay Gundogan: 4
Fired an effort on goal which was heading for the top corner but his shot was saved. Left the midfield area absent for the second goal as Juventus played through the visitors. Doesn’t look like the player he was during his first stint with the club.
Jack Grealish: 5
Looks shy of confidence with the ball at his feet and wasn’t able to draw in the defenders like he has done so well in the past. Teed up Bernardo Silva in the second period but the Portugal star’s shot was blocked.

Kevin De Bruyne: 7
Was City’s heartbeat in the final third of the pitch as he carved out chances for his team-mates. He needs to be playing every week if the Citizens are to turn their atrocious form around.
Jeremy Doku: 6
Quiet early on. Carved out an opportunity just before the hour mark as he danced his way into the box before his shot was blocked. Fizzed the ball across goal in the second half but no one got on the end of it.
Erling Haaland: 4
Had a couple of chances to break the deadlock just before the interval, but his first effort was blocked by a defender and his second one was saved by the keeper. Looks way off his best and doesn’t always impact the game when he’s not scoring.
