Manchester City do not intend on selling Jack Grealish
Pep Guardiola has reportedly spoken at length with Jack Grealish about his future at Manchester City, amid rumours that the England forward could depart before the transfer window closes.
City have only made one signing so far this signing, acquiring the services of Savinho from sister club Troyes. Another attacking addition is expected too following Julian Alvarez’s £82million move to Atletico Madrid.
With Guardiola refreshing his attacking options, reports have claimed that Grealish could be offloaded in the final week of the transfer window, with Aston Villa cited as a potential destination.
However, 90min report that City have no intention of parting ways with the versatile forward and will reject any approaches. Despite enduring a tough 2023/24 campaign, Grealish is still regarded as an important player for the club in the short and long term.
The 28-year-old was omitted from England’s squad for Euro 2024 as a result of his struggles, prompting the winger to hold talks with Guardiola. He was ‘reassured’ by his manager that he remains a key player at City and that he will bounce back from the disappointment.
Further talks have since been held earlier this week, with Grealish being told that he remains ‘important to the dynasty’ that City believe they are building.

Guardiola also cited the ex-Villa captain’s role off the pitch as a key reason why the club have no interest in facilitating a sale this summer, as well as the attributes he can contribute to the team.
Grealish is said to have used the disappointment of missing out on representing his nation at a major tournament to fuel him over the past few months ahead of pre-season. An injury paused the progress he made ahead of the Community Shield, though he hopes to be match-fit as soon as possible.

With a plethora of attacking talent on the books of City, it remains to be seen how Guardiola manages to squeeze the players into one team and whether he is able to satisfy the demands of each player.
The higher powers at the Etihad Stadium are working towards bringing in a forward who is happy playing a bit-part role at the club, with Celtic’s Kyogo Furuhashi among those shortlisted as a potential option.
