Luke Littler won Young Sports Personality of the Year
Luke Littler has revealed that the one celebrity he would like to meet is Manchester United icon Cristiano Ronaldo. The darts sensation is a huge Red Devils fan and is desperate to meet the Portuguese striker.
Littler finished second in the Sports Personality of the Year award. He missed out on the BBC prize to athletics ace Keely Hodgkinson, who famously raced to Olympic gold in the women’s 800m in Paris.
However, the 17-year-old still scooped the Young Sports Personality of the Year award. Despite meeting some of British sport’s biggest names on Tuesday night, the Premier League Darts and Grand Slam champion is still keen to cross paths with Ronaldo.
“There’s only one person who I would like to meet and that’s Cristiano Ronaldo,” Littler told 90min.
A collaboration between Littler and Ronaldo would be hugely popular. Fans would love to see the Al-Ittihad forward throwing darts at a board and the fact he now has a personal YouTube channel may aid the teenager’s dream.
Meanwhile, Littler thanked fans for their support at the Sports Personality of the Year awards. He wrote on X: “First SPOTY and taking home two trophies. Huge honour for me to win Young Sports Personality of the Year and finish second for Sports Personality.
“Support this year has been amazing and want to say thank you to everyone who voted and sent messages.”
Littler’s rise is phenomenal given that he was a little-known name this time last year. His breakthrough at last year’s World Darts Championship as a 16-year-old saw him become a household name.

The Nuke pointed out that his popularity in the BBC contest showed how he and his colleagues have changed darts.
Accepting the Young Sports Personality of the Year trophy, Littler said: “It goes to show how well I’ve done this year, but not only myself. [We] changed the sport of darts, all the other professionals, but I have played a big part in it.
“I know the amount of academies that have been brought up in different locations, how big the sport has got, tickets selling out for Ally Pally in hours and the Premier League sold out quick as well. It just goes to show how much I’ve changed it.”
Darts fans have missed out on a highly-anticipated World Championship second-round match between Littler and Fallon Sherrock. The Queen of the Palace was beaten 3-2 in an epic clash with Ryan Meikle on Tuesday.
