Louis Saha hails Man Utd for snubbing Brighton star Evan Ferguson

Louis Saha has hailed his former club Manchester United for signing Rasmus Hojlund this summer instead of alternative transfer target Evan Ferguson.

Ferguson, a lifelong United supporter, was said to be moving to Old Trafford in the summer, but the Red Devils signed Hojlund from Atalanta in his place.

Following his remarkable breakthrough at Brighton, Irish striker Ferguson has drawn interest from a number of top teams, with Manchester City now considering a move.

In 25 appearances last season, the 18-year-old scored ten goals, earning him a new long-term contract on the south coast.

Ferguson, however, has already scored four goals in four games this season, including a hat-trick against Newcastle the previous time out.

Hojlund, meanwhile, overcame an ailment that prevented him from playing on Sunday and made his United debut in the 3-1 loss against Arsenal.

Saha, a former United striker, is certain that Erik ten Hag’s team made the right choice by selecting Hojlund over Ferguson, a standout for the Seagulls.

Rasmus Hojlund was Manchester United’s ideal aim rather than Evan Ferguson, To Paddy Power, Saha spoke.

“Both guys are outstanding and have exciting potential, but there should never be any second-guessing when choosing.

Ferguson scored three goals over the weekend, and Hojlund made his debut, but drawing analogies between their two separate professional histories is inappropriate.

Ferguson is performing well, which is fantastic for Brighton, but for the time being, the focus is on Manchester United and the players they have available.

Hojlund came on for 25 minutes and did a great job; his strength and power were evident. This is good for United because, except from him, the team lacks any true target men.

Due to his strength and quickness, he may be able to free up some space between the two centre defenders.

‘I’m sure that’s the right decision for Manchester United, but it will be quite intriguing to watch how he can adjust physically after a few games,’ said the commentator.
