Liverpool will look to sign midfielder rated as highly as Kevin De Bruyne
Liverpool will reportedly look to sign Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, with the Serbian international expected to leave Italy this summer.
According to journalist Rudy Galetti, the 28-year-old is a target for Jurgen Klopp as Milinkovic-Savic looks set to finally depart Italy having established himself as one of the best midfielders in the world, with Liverpool interested in the Lazio superstar.
Praised by Ciro Immobile as a midfielder who could be on the same level or greater than Kevin De Bruyne, Liverpool are ready to spend big on central midfielders this summer having missed out on top-four. And Milinkovic-Savic would be quite the statement signing for the Reds.
As we know, Milinkovic-Savic has been linked with a move to the Premier League for what feels like forever, and Liverpool could now be the side who wins the race for the midfielder, with Galetti saying: “Liverpool want to be competitive again in the Premier League and for this reason.
“One of the main targets of the next summer transfer market is to strengthen the midfield. And yes it’s true, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic is among the names in the list. His contract will expire in 2024 and Lazio, to avoid losing him as a free agent next year, will have to sell him in the summer.”
Liverpool won’t find a better midfielder this summer than Milinkovic-Savic
Milinkovic-Savic has been one of the best midfielders in Europe for some time, and with the Lazio star set to finally leave Rome this summer, Liverpool will find it hard to land a player as good as the Serbian international for what they need in the market.
The 28-year-old is at the peak of his powers and could be keen on the idea of playing at Anfield. And for Liverpool, they know that there will be no midfielders out there who are as perfect for their issues in the squad that Lazio’s Milinkovic-Savic.
