Liverpool remain interested in signing Levi Colwill
Liverpool have reportedly reignited their interest in Chelsea star Levi Colwill following their unsuccessful pursuit of the England international last summer.
The Reds are keen to bolster their defensive ranks over the coming months, with a left-sided centre-back viewed as a top priority on Merseyside to provide versatility across the backline following the departure of Joel Matip and the potential exit of Joe Gomez, amid interest from Saudi Pro League sides.
Numerous defensive options have been linked with Liverpool as a result, with the Daily Mail reporting that Colwill remains a consideration at Anfield heading into the summer transfer window.
Arne Slot is keen to sign a versatile defender and it is believed that the England international fits the bill in that respect, having played as a left-back for Chelsea last season and also showing his quality as a centre-back in a back-three and back-four on loan at Brighton in the 2022/23 campaign.
Striking a deal for the 21-year-old would prove very tricky for Liverpool though, with Chelsea keen to retain the services of the academy product beyond this summer.
The Blues deem the defender as a key player in both the short and long term, as shown by the bumper contract he was handed 12 months ago.

Amid interest from Liverpool, Brighton and Manchester City, Chelsea managed to convince Colwill to put pen to paper on a six-year contract, with the option of a further one year.
After his contract was announced, the defender vowed that he was ‘excited to be a part of the project’ and that he is ‘dedicated’ to working with the Blues. However, Liverpool will be hoping that the prospect of a fresh project at Anfield could turn the head of the centre-back.

The Reds are also in the market for attacking reinforcements this summer, with Slot keen to acquire the service of an alternative to Mohamed Salah on the right wing. Leeds star Crycensio Summerville is among those to be linked with a move to the club, as well as PSV’s Johan Bakayoko and Borussia Dortmund forward Donyell Malen.
It remains to be seen whether attacking reinforcements arrive at the expense of Darwin Nunez though, with the Uruguay international linked with a move away from the club previously after a disappointing season in front of goal that saw him miss several big chances during the latter stages of the campaign which ultimately proved costly.
