Liverpool FC have been urged to sign the ‘next Arjen Robben’ amid fears Mohamed Salah’s time at the club is coming towards an end.

Salah has only a matter of months remaining on his Liverpool deal, which is set to expire at the end of the season.

More worryingly for the Reds faithful, Salah will be able to discuss signing a pre-contract agreement with clubs outside of England as early as January.

It’s left Liverpool’s owners with a decision to make, given Salah is currently the club’s highest-paid player and would no doubt want another lucrative deal if he is to sign on.

But, with time ticking and no signs of a contract extension yet, claims Salah might be in his final season with the Anfield outfit are starting to gather pace.

If this is to be the end for Liverpool’s Egyptian king, one former Kop favourite has told Arne Slot and co. who they should sign to replace him.

Speaking to Flashscore, ex-Liverpool ace Dietmar Hamann said: “I’m very surprised no one picked Michael Olise up in England, if anyone was to replace Mohamed Salah, it would be him.

“He’s a brilliant player, he can score goals and create. Bayern won’t want to lose Olise, but I won’t be surprised if Liverpool offers a big fee for him.

“Michael Olise will need to stay for a few years to reach that level, but he does have the ability to become as good as Arjen Robben. He certainly has the ability.”

The Robben comparison is a bold one, but so far Olise has lived up to expectations at Bayern Munich.

After 11 matches across all competitions this season, the ex-Crystal Palace star boasts six goals and three assists to his name.

Given the Bundesliga side splashed £50million on the French international’s signature during the summer window, it’s unlikely they’ll be willing to part ways this soon, unless a desperate Liverpool table a bumper offer.

It’s something they might have to consider, given Salah himself has hinted he could be on his way out of Merseyside.

Commenting to Sky Sports after Liverpool’s 3-0 demolition earlier this year, Salah said: “I had a good summer, I had a long time to stay with myself and to think positive because as you know it’s my last year in the club.

“I just want to enjoy it and I don’t want to think about it. But I feel I’m free to play football and we’ll see what can happen next year.”
