Arne Slot tasted defeat as Liverpool for the first time last weekend when his side were beaten 1-0 by Nottingham Forest, and he will be hoping that his side bounce back to winning ways this afternoon (Saturday) against Bournemouth.

Several stars impressed in midweek in the Reds’ 3-1 win over AC Milan, though it remains to be seen whether Slot is willing to roll the dice and hand starts to the likes of Cody Gakpo, Darwin Nunez and Kostas Tsimikas.

Liverpool’s Predicted XI vs Bournemouth (4-3-3)

Goalkeeper: Kelleher

Speaking on Friday, Slot revealed that first-choice goalkeeper Alisson is an injury doubt this weekend. He explained: “He has a slight issue with one of his muscles. We wonder if this game tomorrow is coming too early or not. He didn’t do it in the Milan game, he felt it before then he felt it more and more. Now we have to see if he’s ready for the weekend.”

Despite publicly asking to leave the club, Caoimhin Kelleher is in line to replace Alisson. The Irishman will be keen to impress at Anfield and put himself in the shop window, having shone when given opportunities under Jurgen Klopp previously.

Defence: Alexander-Arnold, Van Dijk, Konate, Robertson

Andrew Robertson is likely to return to Liverpool’s backline today, despite Tsimikas’ solid performance at the San Siro. The rest of Slot’s back four somewhat picks itself, with the ex-Feyenoord boss not rotating his centre-back partnership since Ibrahima Konate was brought on in place of Jarrell Quansah on the opening weekend of the season.

Midfield: Szoboszlai, Gravenberch, Mac Allister

With Wataru Endo only coming on as a 92nd-minute substitute, Liverpool’s midfield appears somewhat set in stone. Dominik Szoboszlai’s goal against Milan could not have come at a better time for the Hungary international, with Gakpo pushing him to play as a No. 10 in the Reds’ midfield three.

Forwards: Salah, Jota, Diaz

Slot said on Friday that Nunez must ‘work really hard’ if he is to break back into the first-team, and the Uruguayan’s failure to make an impact against Milan did not do his chances of moving ahead of Diogo Jota in the pecking order any favours.

In contrast, Gakpo hit the ground running on his first start under his new manager but he may be forced to return to the bench given that Luis Diaz has enjoyed a sensational start to the season.
