Liverpool target set to leave club with Anfield offer due this week
Manuel Ugarte has reportedly told Sporting Lisbon that he will leave the club this summer, with Liverpool due to make an offer for the midfielder this week.
According to Record, the Uruguay international has alarmed the Portuguese giants of his intention to leave Sporting at the end of this season, with Ugarte set to be subject to a bid from Liverpool amid growing interest from the Reds.
The 22-year-old has been one of the breakout stars in Europe this season and has attracted plenty of interest from some of football’s biggest clubs, and Liverpool are seemingly ready to beat their rivals to Ugarte with an early bid for the midfielder.
Jurgen Klopp has made central midfield his main area of focus for the upcoming summer window, and Ugarte could be an ideal fit as a long-term replacement for Fabinho at the base of the midfield-three, and the youngster’s decision to leave Sporting is a massive boost.
With Liverpool already due to make a bid for Ugarte this week anyway, the midfielder stating his intention to leave Sporting could play well into the Anfield side’s hands, with the Reds now in the driving seat to land the Uruguay international in the coming weeks.

With an offer expected this week, Liverpool can make big strides in the coming days to secure Ugarte’s signature and to add a key piece of their midfield for years to come, with the Uruguayan a perfect successor for Fabinho in the Anfield XI.
