Liverpool teenagers Trey Nyoni and Amara Nallo have both been named in Arne Slot’s Champions League squad for the 2024/25 season. Ahead of their first league phase fixture at AC Milan on September 17, the Dutchman has submitted a list of 24 names to UEFA.

Midfielder Nyoni, 17, has made just one FA Cup appearance for the club since joining from Leicester a year ago.

Defender Nallo meanwhile, also 17 and promoted to the senior ranks in 2023, is yet to make his first team debut.

The club have only had to submit their ‘List A’ of players. Participating teams can initially name a maximum 25-man squad, with a minimum of eight places reserved exclusively for homegrown players.

Each team also has a ‘List B’ of players, on which clubs can register an unlimited number of players during the season and also update before each Champions League fixture.

UEFA regulations state: “A player may be registered on List B if he is born on or after 1 January 2003 and has, since his 15th birthday, been eligible to play for the club concerned for any uninterrupted period of two years.

“Or a total of three consecutive years with a maximum of one loan period to a club from the same association for a period not longer than one year.

“Players aged 16 may be registered on List B if they have been registered with the participating club for the previous two years without interruption.”

Sky has slashed the price of its Sky Sports, Sky Stream, Sky TV and Netflix bundle in an unbeatable new deal that saves £216 and includes 1,400 live matches across the Premier League, EFL and more.

With Ultra HD included at no extra cost, football fans can enjoy the 2024/25 season with crystal clear picture quality.

Under those rules, neither Nyoni or Nallo are eligible for the second list, and in all likelihood, have been named by Slot as back-ups in List A.

A host of his other first-team options, including Conor Bradley, Harvey Elliott and Jarell Quansah, haven’t needed to be included on List A due to their ages and club statuses.

The expanded format at Europe’s top table will see Liverpool play eight league phase games in the 36-team group stage. Following the San Siro trip, the Reds will face Bologna (H), RB Leipzig (A), Bayer Leverkusen (H), Real Madrid (H), Girona (A), Lille (H), and PSV (A).

If the club qualifies for the Champions League knockout rounds, they will be permitted to update List A with three new players by February 6. The play-offs for the last-32 stage take place the following week.

Slot is currently enjoying a fairytale start to life an Anfield. Sunday’s 3-0 win at Manchester United maintained his side’s perfect Premier League record so far, winning all three of their games without conceding a goal and boasting a goal difference of +7.
