Curtis Jones scored on his 100th Liverpool appearance
Curtis Jones has shared a touching moment with former Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp, who sent him a congratulatory text after the Reds’ triumph over Leicester City. The young midfielder celebrated his 100th Premier League appearance by scoring in Liverpool’s 3-1 win, a milestone he reached without realising until he saw Klopp’s message.
Despite stepping down as manager last year, Klopp remains invested in Liverpool’s progress and is set to join the Red Bull group soon. Jones expressed his gratitude towards Klopp for his significant contribution to both his career and Liverpool’s success, acknowledging that the solid foundations laid by Klopp have been effectively continued by Arne Slot.
In an interview with Match of the Day, Jones disclosed the content of Klopp’s message: “I came in then and normally text family and I saw a text off [Jurgen] Klopp saying ‘congratulations on 100 games and here’s to 500’. I was like ‘what is he on about?'”
He concluded by praising Klopp’s role in building the current team, which has allowed Slot to take the reins seamlessly at Anfield.
Liverpool are determined not to get ahead of themselves. Jones added: “It looks good but there are plenty of games to come. You can play a team at the bottom, middle or top and it is a hard game. It is about trying to win every single game and if we do that everybody knows what comes at the end.
“We have still got a long, long way to go. There are plenty of games to come. We’ll take each game as it comes and try and win all the games.”

Jurgen Klopp sent a congratulatory text to Curtis Jones
Discussing their recent match-up, he reflected on the tactical challenges faced: “It was a hard game. They sat back and defended well. Especially for me it was hard to find space inside. It was more of a patient game and not trying to play into their plan. In the first half we were crossing the ball a load and that is what they want. In the second half we changed it round, kept it more and that’s where the goals came.
“We are a goal down it’s almost half-time but we don’t stop, we score. In the second half we start strong and score again. The thing is with us we just want to win each game.”
